Showcasing this significant, wooden shelter brings a touch of rustic style to your yard, while providing these migratory birds lasting roosting options. White, lapped wood siding brings architectural elements to the forefront, and the black, hipped roof with dormer adds both contrast and realism. Copper colored flashing on the roof ridges completes the piece, and the white color of the body prevents nestlings from overheating. The four lower apartments each have a 2" diameter entry hole, leading to a 5.25" by 5.5" nesting chamber. A plywood board rests atop these compartments, creating an 11.75" square top apartment for one additional nesting pair. A hole on this slat makes it easy to lift for nest checks, and the unattached roof also removes in moments for maintenance. A bottom platform ensures stability and landing spots for martins, while an integrated bracket beneath this slides readily over a standard 4 x 4 post (not included) for displaying the home in your yard. Built of repurposed and reclaimed wood, each purple martin house has slight variances that showcase the skill of the builders, and the material aids in reducing both waste and landfill mass.
