Red Phantom Quartz is amongst one of the rarest formations of any crystal type. A Silicon Dioxide mineral, containing Iron Oxides, such as Hematite, Red Phantom Quartz is formed when deposits of the iron oxide cover the outside of the points. Over time, another layer of quartz grows over the iron oxide layer, completely enclosing the iron mineral within. Its appearance shows a red crystal point that has grown inside the larger quartz point; however this is simply an illusion created by the layer of iron oxide coating the quartz point during its growth process.

Usually when Phantom Quartz is found it is in a single point or generator. It is totally natural, and these are some of the most incredible specimens we have ever seen! Red Phantom Quartz is extremely rare and hard to find.
