The Whittet-Higgins BLM Series Bearlok is a metric-thread, mechanical self-locking bearing retaining device that secures bearings and power-transmission components against a shaft or spindle thread. Each unit is a three-piece assembly: a thick-walled carbon steel base nut with a longitudinally slit, internally tapered back, a hardened alloy compression ring of matching outside diameter, and hardened alloy socket head cap screws. Tightening the cap screws in a bolt-circle pattern draws the ring over the tapered nut sections, driving them radially inward for uniform 360-degree thread clamping to the center of the shaft without damaging the shaft threads. With longitudinal (Z-axis) access, infinite adjustment and preloading, and resistance to loosening from vibration, shock, and torque, the BLM Series meets and exceeds ISO 2982-2:2013(E).
