Description:
There has been a recent explosion of active concern in matters of
animal welfare. The science behind animal welfare has progressed
significantly, new codes of practice and legislation have come into
to being, and innovative methods to assess welfare schemes for food
production have emerged.
Part of a major animal welfare series, Animal Welfare: Limping
Towards Eden is John Webster?s new and groundbreaking work on
animal welfare. Building on his first book, the highly acclaimed
Animal Welfare: A Cool Eye Towards Eden, it not only critically
reviews areas of development, but looks to how animal welfare can
be improved in the future.
Special consideration is given to:
Defining animal welfare (?fit and happy?) and
establishing a systematic approach for its evaluation (the
?five freedoms?);
Providing a sound ethical framework that affords proper
respect to animals within the broader context of our duties as
citizens to the welfare of society;
Developing comprehensive, robust protocols for assessing
animal welfare and the provisions that constitute good
husbandry;
Introducing an education policy that will increase human
awareness of animal welfare problems and promote action to reduce
suffering.
This book is part of the
UFAW/Wiley-Blackwell Animal Welfare Book Series. This major
series of books produced in collaboration between UFAW (The
Universities Federation for Animal Welfare), and Wiley-Blackwell
provides an authoritative source of information on worldwide
developments, current thinking a

The pooch is on Cloud No 9
Color: Blue
Lucky loves everything about this (blue) octopus. It has squeakers in all the right places and the crinkle sound adds to his fun. He’s almost 70lbs and extremely strong, and can be an aggressive player and chewer. So far, it has held up extremely well for the tug-of-war games and crazy shaking play. It’s well worth the money. I also want to mention that this toy is true to size. I have too often ordered dog toys that turned out to be much smaller than advertised.

So cute!
Good size toy, but my 1yr old Jack Russell is NB match for it. It’s good quality and I’m sure it would last longer with a less aggressive chewer.

Dog loves it! Squeaky on both ends!
Bungee rope is not as resistant as I wished, but its fun nonetheless!
Squeaks in head and tail. Misssteped the tail and broke one squeaker, still fun though!
Toy can handle a beating. Really happy with it!

My dogs loves this toy
I got a few different toys for them today. I need to go through their toybox and get rid of some of the older ones. I can tell the youngster loves the toys. He has taken them into one of the crates and sat with them. Then he brought them back out. He fell asleep with his head against one of them. He has been playing tug of war with this one. And the older one has been running around with it too. Pup already pulled one eye off of this one. But the toy is intact.

SPOT Bungee Raccoon
Purchased 5/20. Decent dog toy. I have a Chiyorkie and he chews on his toys constantly. The squeakers went after a couple of days and then he pulled them out. I put them in the trash. After about two months he had chewed off the head and pulled the bungee out. The bungee went in the trash. I let him play with head and tail pieces for a while but the head had gotten into bad shape so in the trash it went. That left about a twelve inch piece left. He has been playing with that now about a month. He loved tearing the toy up and I do not really blame the toy. He rips up anything that is made of cloth. The only real issue I have with the toy is the two squeakers. IMO they could cause a choking or bowel blocking hazard. I just happened to catch him chewing on them after he had gotten them back. An old knotted on each end knee sock works just about as well but from then on don't leave your socks laying around. They will be fair game for you pet. lol
