Tips on Stenciling the Side of a Cake With Buttercream or Royal Icing:
- Make sure iced cake is completely dry. You can either let dry overnight, or put in fridge or freezer for about 30 minutes.
- Pin cake stencil to the side of your cake, making sure that all parts are completely flat against surface. Make sure the stencil is level on the cake.
- Apply a creamy consistency of icing using an rubber or offset spatula to spread a generous amount of royal icing over stencil, being sure to cover all the holes on the stencil.
- Using a cake smoother or the back of an icing spatula, remove the excess icing from the stencil. Be careful not to remove too much of the icing, you want about 2 mm of royal icing to remain on the cake so as to ensure that the pattern comes out well (or at least the thickness of the stencil sheet itself.
- Gently remove the stencil from one side to the other (don't just pull it off, it may disturb the design).
- To repeat the design horizontally or vertically, Allow the icing to completely dry before using the stencil on the uncovered portions of the cake. Be sure to start from the point where the previous stencil pattern ended. Continue this process until all the cake sides have been covered.
- You also want the stencil to be cleaned off completely between stenciling so that the openings are free of dried icing.
- Once that is dry, feel free to airbrush on top of this, or embellish with luster dust, candies, drips just to name a few.

Great for small to medium heat transfer projects.

This is perfect for small heat transfer projects. I used a few ready to press designs and it worked pretty well. It is small, portable, lightweight, and has a few heat settings on it. If you are looking to use it for sublimination, it is not the right fit. Tried sublimination and while there was enough heat to transfer some of the image, because of the size, it is really hard to get even, exact pressure over the entire project area which results in uneven, spotty results.
All in all, great for small to medium heat transfer projects, and perfect for someone just getting in to heat transfer.

HTVRONT is the competition

I've never purchased an HTVRONT product that I didn't like. I really like this mini heatpress. It's perfect for pressing small pieces for quilting, or a piece of vynil when a larger press is too much. I like the color and design but more importantly, it heats as it should with no glitches. I have another mini press from a different leading brand and comparitively, this one is the better of the two. I caught it on sale but at regular price I would have still bought it.

Just As Good As Cricut- Half the Cost

I had a Cricut mini press, but my mother loved it for her quilting so much that I had given it to her.
I learned after that it was a mistake as I used it more than I had realized. When looking back at the price, I could not justify almost $40, so I waited. I have been a user of HTVRONT's other products for years, so I finally gave it a chance.
The package came with the mini press neatly resting in a fine quality box, where it is easy to store. It feels sturdy and well made without any weird smells. It has a nice weight to it, but not too heavy. It evenly distributed heat making it easy to apply the HTV onto my project. I was able to easily use it on felt and cotton.
I actually prefer it has a dial for temperatures rather than buttons like the cricut.
10/10 would recommend.

This mini heat press packs a lot of heat! It’s very easy to use and it’s light weight. I use it for my crochet projects when ironing patches on. The silicon holder didn’t burn when resting the mini machine on it either. This is a pretty sturdy mini press and I am very happy with my purchase.
