Each volume presents extensive descriptions of prominent stars and deep-sky objects. No other popular work in astronomy provides the comprehensive historical background and astrophysical appraisals of prominent stars and celestial objects. 

Volume 5 explores the constellations of Centaurus, Cepheus, and Cetus. Among other objects Centaurus features a detailed overview of the Alpha Centauri system, the Scorpius-Centaurus Association, and the stunning Omega Centauri globular cluster (NGC 5139). Cepheus hosts the star-forming region IC 1396 and several fine star clusters, some still associated with nebulosity. Cetus leads us into a large extragalactic realm where we find the nearby dwarf irregular IC 1613, the edge-on spiral NGC 1055, and one of the brightest and nearest Seyfert 2 galaxies, M77.

When the shelves came in, I was happy to learn that they were indeed good quality and easy to assemble. They come with mounting hardware, but I’d recommend better mounts for the walls than the ones supplied. Overall, I love the look of these shelves. The wood is described as reclaimed, but it’s pretty much cheap, light wood with a stain. They still look good and are sturdy. The pipes has some silver paint brushed on them to give them a distressed look. I thought it was actually a little cheesy looking, but I happened to have iron-colored spray paint, so I just respirated them.
