While Brazilian rosewood remains the standard wood for comparing sounds made by guitars, many musicians choose the Victorian or Australian Blackwood as their guitar tonewood. The sounds and tones these guitars make is “sweet,” and distinct. It is different from the Brazilian rosewood tone, and adds a certain beauty and nuance to the tune and sound of the instrument.

The proprietary Maton "808" body shape is similar, though slightly smaller that the US OM Model. However, the body depth of the 808 is substantially deeper. This is significant, as moving the top and back further apart enhances the bass element within the tonal character of the voicing (bracing technique), complimenting the different wood combinations.

This guitar has been outfitted with Maton's AP5 Pro Pickup System(arguably the best acoustic pickup system in the world) you'll never have to worry about getting your Maton to sound great live!
