The 3 Hostages is the fourth of five of the classic Richard Hannay novels. Given that Ferris Greenslet, (also a fellow fisherman and wartime friend of Buchan), was a partner at Houghton Mifflin, it was the first of Buchan's many American editions to be published by the firm.
