De kettlebell heeft vele trainingsmogelijkheden en kan tijdens cardio- en krachttraining worden gebruikt. Denk hierbij aan oefeningen zoals arm swings, kettlebell rows en de kettlebell swing. Door de zwaaiende bewegingen worden ook de spieren in je romp aangesproken, waardoor je veel spiergroepen in één keer kunt trainen. Hij is ook ideaal om oefeningen te verzwaren, zoals squats of walking lunges. Veel spiergroepen kunnen met behulp van een kettlebell (extra) getraind worden.

De kettlebell is makkelijk vast te houden dankzij het sterke handvat en kan voor zowel langzame en statische oefeningen als voor dynamische en zwaaiende oefeningen gebruikt worden.
