Despite a spirited defence from the opening hours of the Normandy invasion in June 1944, Hitler’s forces in northern France were comprehensively defeated and forced to retreat westward. Although their position was strengthened considerably following Operation Dragoon – the landing in southern France in August 1944 – the Allies were faced with considerable logistical problems as they advanced towards Germany, spreading their lines of communications and support thinner with every mile.

Operation Market Garden, the massive airborne assault of September 1944, failed to meet its objectives and the momentum of the Allied advance was further threatened.

German forces were able to capitalize on this and with mounting pressure from the east as Soviet forces prepared for a winter offensive, Hitler decided to launch one last gamble – a massive counter offensive against the Allies in December 1944. The German assault (including 45-divisions) launched against American defenders dug in across the Ardennes region led to the largest single battle fought by the US Army in the entire twentieth century. The stakes could not have been higher for either side – for Germany it truly was a last attempt to avoid being completely overwhelmed by the Western Allies, whilst for the American forces bearing the brunt of the assault, there was a very real threat that a German breakthrough could have undone all of the successes since D-Day.

Code named Operation Watch on the Rhine by German forces, the initial successes of the campaign led to a worrying and distinctive bulge in the Allied front line, leading to the Allied press giving the offensive an immortal moniker: The Battle of the Bulge.

Inside Battle Of the Bulge

Battle Of The Bulge is a campaign expansion to Bolt Action & compatible with both 1st and 2nd editions. Crammed with scenarios, new units and new rules whilst still giving some historical background for context. Everything you need to explore one of the most complex series of engagements in the European Theatre of Operations is within the 124 pages of this full colour book.

The Battle Of The Bulge campaign book is divided into easy sections that take a brief look at a particular historical time frame, the combatants involved (including any special characters that made an appearance) - then move on to introduce the special Bolt Action scenario, with any special rule or new units clearly explained, along with the recommended force selectors to use when preparing your forces.

The 12 scenarios are overflowing with detail and cover actions that were happening just prior to and after the more famous 'Bulge' battles:

  • Scenario 1: Retreat Through the Mons Pocket The Aftermath
  • Scenario 2: The Battle of Hürtgen Forest
  • Scenario 3: The Battle of St Vith

  • Scenario 9: Bandit Country
  • Scenario 10: Fogged Out
  • Scenario 11: Defend The Bridge

Keeps lousy time
Color: Silver-Tone/Black
I purchased this watch off Amazon Warehouse well below MSRP out of curiosity to see what Timex is doing in 2024. The specs are good - bead blasted stainless case, solar movement with quick set date and hacking, sapphire crystal, screwdown crown and 100m water resistance. The movement is Japanese, case and bracelet are made in China, and the watch is assembled somewhere overseas. The good - the watch is lightweight and comfortable on the wrist. Price, even at full MSRP makes this an extremely good value for what you get. It is a good looking Flieger style watch. Once fully charged it is keeping good time. Case finish is well executed and without rough or sharp edges. The bad - the lume is weak. When blasted with UV, it fades quickly and within 5 minutes it’s gone. The bracelet is low end, but expected at this price point. I swapped it out with a nice leather strap from my collection with better quality spring bars and it makes the watch look and feel higher end. The Ugly - the second hand misses nearly all the chapter ring marks. The minute and hour hands are aligned, but that second hand seems to have a mind of its own. On my watch it lines up with chapter ring marks maybe 10% of the time, but it’s not consistent. Sum up, for a sub $200 watch the specs are great and it’s a good looking comfortable watch. Just keep your expectations aligned with what you are paying for. It compares favorably to Orients & Citizens at this price, and offers better value than comparable competitors now that Seiko has gone upmarket. I like this watch. Just don’t compare it to a Swiss watch costing several times its price. Update after a few months: I’m changing my rating to 3 stars. This watch keeps lousy time! It is loosing around 5 minutes per month. And it is fully charged. I have other Solar quartz watches from Citizen, Seiko and Vaer which maintain very good accuracy. But this Timex … defeats the purpose of a solar powered “grab and go” watch when you have to correct the time each occurrence you want to wear it.

Great Watch with Great Sapphire Crystal
Color: Olive/Gunmetal
Waited 2.5 years before reviewing. I love the gunmetal grey case, olive dial, and the exceptional sapphire crystal. The watch is still running great. During cold weather when wearing long sleeves, I make sure I charge the watch monthly by placing it under a table lamp for many hours because it died once due to no daylight charging. One problem is being able to see the minute markings. (The same watch with blue dial is much easier to read.) I also replaced the military-style band immediately with the excellent Archer 20mm Olive band (ARC-QRN-OLV20) and Archer 20mm Matte Gunmetal buckle ( ARC-BKL-GRYM20). I am only allowed to review once for this Timex model, so adding comments about the "Blue" version (TW2V03600JR). The blue version is the same watch but easier to view. It looks GREAT with the Archer 20mm Navy Blue band (ARC-QRN-NVY20).

I design flaw caused me to return it.
Color: Brown/Blue
Pros: - Perfect case size. - Sapphire crystal. - Solar powered quartz. - Large dial face - Minute and second hands reach to minute track for precise reading. - Great field watch design and proportions. - Effective lume on hands. Cons: - Lume on small triangular hour markers is useless, and fades quickly. - The hour numbers are not luminous. - The dull peach color chosen for the hour markers, numbers and hands in dim lighting is very dull and thus hard to read. - The dark blue color chosen for the dial is a dull hue that doesn’t really look blue, but just reduces the contrast between text and markers. - A black dial and bright white markers and numbers would make the watch much more legible/ readable, and would look much better aesthetically. It is a shame that these choices were made on an otherwise perfect design. - I was really excited that Timex finally seemed to get it when they came out with this series of models, but then they handicapped it with a dial that is only useable in bright light. What a shame. I am returning the watch.

Look and feel awesome!
Size: 11.5, Color: Optic White/Opti
These are awesome shoes - look great really, really white and clean! Love how comfortable they are - and soooo light. I was a little worried they'd get dirty easily, but I've been able to keep them clean. Fit as expected. If you're looking for a great, comfortable, and affordable shoe, check these out!

Great shoe, comfort
Size: 11.5, Color: British Tan/Ivry
Love these shoes, they're super comfy. Laces stayed tied all day. I wear them in a business casual environment, or if I'm going out for a nice meal with my wife. They look good, the color is unassuming and neutral. they also elevate my height, I feel like it gives me an inch or so more versus regular shoes. This is my second pair!
