Om vandaag de succesvol te zijn als verdedigende speler, is het uiterst belangrijk om voortdurend alle componenten van het spel te ontwikkelen. Met alleen de klassieke verdediging vanuit de 2e/3e positie wordt het steeds moeilijker om resultaten te behalen. Veel meer nog moet de verdedigende speler in staat zijn om variabel te handelen. Daarnaast zijn noppen nodig die een dergelijk spelsysteem mogelijk maken. Ons doel was, met behulp van onze langdurige partner Chen Weixing, om een langgenopt rubber te ontwikkelen dat modern verdedigen in alle facetten mogelijk maakt. Het resultaat hiervan is de Joola CWX. De roze gekleurde onderlaag (50°) met ingebouwde Tensor Technologie biedt enorme dynamiek voor slagen die ver van de tafel worden gespeeld, maar door zijn harde onderlaag en vlakke vluchtbaan is het ook bijzonder geschikt voor gecontroleerde verstoringen dicht bij de tafel. De structuur van de gripnoppen en de flexibiliteit van de smalle noppen maken een uiterst effectieve verdediging met hoge controle mogelijk.
