Deze band is ontworpen om tractie te bevorderen en heeft laterale noppen voor effectieve grip in bochten. Het lichte reliëf in het midden van de band vermindert de rolweerstand. 

De prestaties van de Ardent Race zijn uitzonderlijk dankzij het soepele 120 tpi karkas en de drievoudige 3C MaxxSpeed rubbersamenstelling die de efficiëntie bevordert. Drie soorten rubber worden gecombineerd: een harde onderlaag en twee zachtere rubberen oppervlakken, met name aan de zijkanten, voor een betere grip voor de laterale noppen. 

In deze Tubeless Ready versie, die met of zonder binnenband gemonteerd kan worden, is de MAXXIS Ardent Race band ook voorzien van de Exo versterking op de zijwanden, die extra bescherming biedt tegen schuren en scheuren.
