Speltgraan is erg bijzonder. De schilvacht beschermt elke kledingkorrel op de speltkorf tegen invloeden van buitenaf zoals het weer en schimmels. Ondanks dezelaag bescherm zijn de speltkorrels thermisch gesteriliseerd. Daarnaast heeft het een buitengewoon goed absorberend vermogen. Het oppervlak zal uiteindelijk altijd droog zijn. Ook de ammoniak is enorm, wat positief is voor een goed binnenklimaat. Spelt is een duurzame grondstof die erg zuinig is in gebruik. Het is enorm zacht.
