Von Winning Riesling Extra Brut QbA is een serieuze Duitse sekt uit de Pfalz, gemaakt van 100% Riesling en volgens de traditionele methode vergist op fles. De combinatie van 36 maanden rijping op de lies, 12% alcohol en 7,5 g/l restsuiker geeft deze mousserende wijn zijn verfijnde balans tussen frisse Riesling spanning, romige mousse en elegante droogte.

Wijngaarden en regio

Deze Riesling sekt komt uit de Pfalz, een van de belangrijkste Riesling regio’s van Duitsland.

Ligging / Herkomst: Von Winning is gevestigd in Deidesheim, in de Pfalz. Deze streek staat bekend om rijpere, krachtigere Rieslings dan veel koelere Duitse regio’s, terwijl de druif zijn frisse zuren goed behoudt.

Classificatie: De wijn is een Qualitätssekt b.A., wat betekent dat het om een Duitse kwaliteitssekt uit een bepaald herkomstgebied gaat.

Druivenras: Riesling speelt de hoofdrol bij Von Winning en geeft deze sekt zijn citrische spanning, fijne aromatiek en verfrissende structuur.

Vinificatie en rijping

De kracht van deze sekt zit in de combinatie van roestvrijstaal, een klein aandeel hout en lange flesrijping.

Vergisting: De basiswijn vergist grotendeels in roestvrijstaal, met een klein deel in hout. Roestvrijstaal houdt de citrusfrisheid en appelachtige Riesling expressie strak, terwijl het hout subtiel bijdraagt aan extra textuur.

Tweede vergisting: De wijn ondergaat zijn 2e vergisting op fles volgens de traditionele methode. Wat is traditionele methode? Dat is dezelfde basiswerkwijze als bij Champagne, waarbij de mousse ontstaat door vergisting in de fles zelf.

Rijping: De sekt rijpt 36 maanden op de lies. Die lange rijping geeft een fijne, romige mousse en meer diepte, zonder de frisse Riesling energie te verliezen.

Restsuiker en zuren: Met 7,5 g/l restsuiker en 8,9 g/l zuren blijft de wijn extra brut, droog en levendig, maar met genoeg balans om de zuren elegant te laten samenvallen met het fruit.

Druivensamenstelling

Deze sekt wordt volledig gemaakt van Riesling.

100% Riesling – Pfalz: Riesling geeft deze mousserende wijn zijn citroenzeste, groene appel, florale tonen, frisse zuren en strakke minerale finale.

Proefnotities en serveertips

Licht en verfijnd in de geur, met witte appelbloesem, citroenzeste en vers gesneden Granny Smith. De smaak is fijn, romig en verfrissend, met een subtiele kruidige grip en elegante zuren die mooi opgaan in de Riesling aroma’s. De mousse is precies en levendig, met een droge, frisse finale.

Serveertemperatuur: Serveer op 6–8 °C, zodat de fijne mousse, citrische frisheid en strakke extra brut stijl mooi tot hun recht komen.

Gerechten: Heerlijk als aperitief en bij oesters, sushi, sashimi, schaal en schelpdieren, gefrituurde hapjes, ceviche, lichte visgerechten of milde kazen.

This is the side sleeper version of the best pillow out there. My 26 year old son was always complaining about his pillow and his neck and back hurting. About every year I’d buy him the next “best” pillow promising to be the best but they never worked for him. I read an article saying THIS pillow was the “Goldilocks” of pillows. So since he sleeps in all positions, I got him the regular shaped pillow. The next morning after his first night with the pillow, he came out of his room talking about how wonderful his pillow is. Same thing the next morning. And the next. And the next. Then I thought to myself, my current pillow is the best I’ve had but I’m not in love with it. But I’m a side sleeper so I purchased this particular contoured pillow for me. NOW I UNDERSTOOD WHAT MY SON WAS TALKING ABOUT. I became the person who went on and on about my pillow. Until my husband told me to replace his with one of these side sleeping versions for himself. And he loves it. Then we got a regular pillow (for those who sleep in all positions, but this same company) for our guests. My best friend came to visit, immediately noticed the pillow upgrade from previous visits and when she returned home, she purchased one for herself. This pillow is like a feather pillow except it is filled with tiny squares of memory foam. And it comes with an extra pack of stuffing, so you can add or remove stuffing to customize it perfectly for you. None of us in the house added filling, and my son removed some that came with his pillow. I also sleep with a body pillow and have for years. And I was wishing this came in a body pillow version until I realized I could make my own. I bought a zippered body pillow case. The larger size. I think it was 54 inches long. And I bought a king size pillow and used the extra stuffing pack that came with that pillow along with the 4 packs that came with the other pillows that we didn’t use. Though you could probably do the same thing with two standard size pillows. These pillows are on the expensive side but they go on sale during every holiday. That’s when I purchase them. Oh and my body pillow is HEAVEN. Between that and the pillow, I spend my nights in fluffy cloud goodness.
