Iron Professional has been formulated to provide more comprehensive support for a varied, balanced diet and healthy lifestyle through the effects of the active ingredients on similar physiological functions compared to food supplements containing only iron.

Iron is an essential mineral whose compound forms with nitrogen and sulphur have contributed to the evolution of life and the release of oxygen into the atmosphere through photosynthesis.

Red meat, fish, legumes and dark green leafy vegetables, for example, contain significant amounts of iron. Much of the iron in foods of animal origin is present as part of complex proteins, such as haemoglobin, which is involved in the transport of oxygen. Haemoglobin consists of globin protein and a haem group. The porphyrin ring of the haem part contains the iron to which oxygen attaches itself.

In plant-based foods, iron is found in a different way, not as part of the haem. This difference affects the absorption properties of iron, and as a result iron from foods of animal origin has better bioavailability than plant-based iron.
