Hartenberg past regeneratieve wijnbouw toe met praktische maatregelen zoals gecontroleerde begrazing door koeien, eigen compostproductie en het bewust vermijden van koper om het bodemleven te behouden. Het domein streeft ernaar om de wijngaarden in betere conditie achter te laten voor de volgende generatie. Sinds het begin van de jaren 2000 werkt Hartenberg volledig zonder pesticiden; in plaats daarvan worden inheemse insectensoorten ingezet om plagen te beheersen, waardoor alle wijngaarden van minder dan twintig jaar oud nog altijd virusvrij zijn.
