Philip & Rosalie maken wijnen op de steile hellingen in de Duitse Mosel. Philip verhuisde in 2014 vanuit Amsterdam naar de Mosel en Rosalie voegde zich vanuit Oregon in 2022 bij hem. Philip werkte eerder onder andere bij Clemens Busch en Ulli Stein en begon in 2016 met een aantal vaten Riesling aan zijn eigen label. Rosalie werkte o.a. in Californië en maakte daar ook wijn, maar na haar ervaring in de Mosel besloot ze de stap te wagen. 

Samen trotseren ze de steile hellingen en maken ze prachtige langgerijpte Rieslings en Pinot Noir. Der Bauer is een bijzondere wijn, gemaakt van 7 verschillende percelen op de St. Aldegunder Himmelreich. De stokken zijn vlak na WWII aangeplant en bestaan volledig uit ongeënte stokken, iets wat je bijna nergens in de wereld meer ziet. Één perceel bestaat uit stokken die van ver voor WWII zijn aangeplant, waarvan een groot deel meer dan 100 jaar oud zijn. 

Gecrusht en een nacht lang ingeweekt voor het persen, vergisting op vat op de volledige gisten, na 18 maanden eenmaal van vat naar vat overgestoken van de grove naar de fijne droesem, gebotteld na 18 maanden rijping op barriques en tonneaux. 1200 flessen gemaakt en beperkt beschikbaar.

In de wijngaard: Oude tot zeer oude, ongeënte stokken op extreem steile hellingen, alles met de hand want de wijngaarden zijn de steil voor elk type machine.
In de wijnkelder: Gecrusht en een nacht lang ingeweekt voor het persen, vergisting op vat op de volledige gisten, na 18 maanden eenmaal van vat naar vat overgestoken van de grove naar de fijne droesem, gebotteld na 18 maanden rijping op barriques en tonneaux.

Book 1 is about omega Elvana's introduction to the "Starling" brothers and their search for another missing person, Kelly. It's a bit of a rocky start, with deception and betrayal a key element. Hardly an auspicious beginning. Each member has their own path and purpose in the pack. Their interactions and the resulting narrative are so well-written that I found it difficult to put down. There is a cliffhanger that will have you reaching for book 2 as you finish, so make sure you have it on hand.

I'm not really into mafia books but I love Roxy Collin's other series so I decided to give it a try. It had the same great romance, spice, swoon-worthy characters and exciting plot that are her signature. It was mentioned that Kelly is a female and male at different points, leading me to think she changed her mind at some point about the character's gender but didn't go back and edit it to align in all places. Like another reviewer pointed out, step siblings are different than half siblings. They are incorrectly referred to as step siblings because they (allegedly) share the same biological dad. There are a few other typos as well but those aren't a big deal.
