What are Knitted Knockers?
Knitted Knockers are special, soft, lightweight breast prosthetics that are very comfortable for women who have undergone mastectomies, lumpectomies and radiation, and/or are undergoing reconstruction.

What are the knockers made of?
The knockers are made of soft, non-wool, washable yarn and filled with PolyFiberFil. They are all knit by volunteers so there is a variety of yarn used.

How do I wash my knockers?
You can wash your knocker stuffed or unstuffed on the gentle cycle and hang to dry.

How can you help?
At Fillory we host an ongoing KAL to make knitted knockers. They can be knitted or crocheted. They are worked in the round on DPNs or magic loop. Use whatever method works best for you. 

We partner with some awesome ladies who come and collect the knitted knockers that are brought in to our store by our fabulous volunteers (YOU!) 
These ladies will make sure the knockers are washed, filled and delivered to clinics in the area where doctors and nurses can hand them out for free to breast cancer survivors. Looking normal after your world has been torn apart by a disease like breast cancer makes a huge difference in the self-confidence and comfort of these women. 

Knitted Knockers has a list of approved yarns on their website to help volunteers select the appropriate yarns that will feel good on the skin and are easy to take care of.

Knockers are needed in all sizes and colors so have fun making the Knockers of your choice. By far the most requested are neutral colors though and matching pairs are greatly needed.

Needles:
Double pointed needles in the size appropriate for your yarn, typically in the range of US 3 (3.25 mm) - US 6 (4 mm). We sell various brands and materials (Addi, Brittany, Prym, Clover, Knitter's Pride, Lykke). For magic loop you need a circular needle of 40" or longer.

When you buy the yarn at Fillory you will receive a 10% off discount for being part of the Charity KAL.
After you finish your knockers you can leave them at the store. Fillory is a drop off point for Knitted Knockers. Your knockers will find their way quickly to a breast cancer survivor recovering from surgery. 

The $25 KAL fee is for those that purchase the yarn from Fillory Yarn. The fee covers the entire year of 2020.
If you choose to bring your own yarn, the price for the KAL participation is $100.
