This unique clay figurine, crafted by Angeliki Dervenioti in autumn 2020, draws inspiration from Late Neolithic marble idols uncovered in Koufovouno (Sparta) and Porto Rafti (Attica). While the origin of these ancient figures may trace back to the Cyclades or mainland Greece, they share a characteristic style of the era. This figurine embodies the steatopygous form, marked by its rounded silhouette; however, it presents a more refined depiction with less pronounced buttocks. Typical features include a bulging abdomen, an elongated neck, and hands placed beneath the breasts, all hallmark traits that reflect Neolithic artistry and symbolism tied to fertility and femininity.
