An incredible pair of Austro-Hungarian earrings from the Arts & Crafts era (ca1930)! Made of sterling gilt, these gorgeous earrings are comprised of ornate oval links which hang from a decorative surmount. Each oval is encrusted with rows of delicate natural seed pearls and bezel-set faux sapphires. Resting in the center is a prong-set pearl accented by two faux sapphires, which sits atop a swirled mourning surrounded by fine chain. The oval links hang from an elongated link that forms the surmount, decorated with a pearl and sapphire design. At the top of each earring is a bezel set pearl attached to a simple earring wire, though they could easily be converted to posts if desired. The faux sapphires have an authentic deep blue color and compliment the lustrous white pearls perfectly! A lovely etched floral design enhances the reverse side of each earring, characteristic of the Austro-Hungarian style of craftsmanship. A simply spectacular pair of Austro Hungarian earrings, they make a beautiful statement when worn and would be a wonderful addition to any collection!

Measurements: The earrings hang 2 3/4" long, are 3/4" wide and measure 1/2" thick at the thickest point.

Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling gilt setting or to any of the pearls or blue stones, all of which are intact. The earring wires are secure and in good condition.

What a moving story. I thought I would be bored reading someone’s correspondence, I was not. This is a well written, interesting and moving book. A life in letters. Loved it.

many feelings
Format: Kindle
I didn’t know what this book was about when I first started reading.. one thing I felt at the beginning was…amazement? I love writing letters, something I don’t do often, I recently bought this beautiful fountain pen, I wanted to start small, writing greeting cards to family and friends, birthday cards, thank yous, etc. what I didn’t expect is the emotional toll this book had on me, and other members of my family who read the book for our book club. The subject matters, death of a child, husband dying of cancer, the significance of May 29th, all impacted our family, and so, as I read this book, I had to put it down several times because I had to cry, compose myself, think of regrets I have, and remember. How amazing it is that Sybil was able to write all about the death of her child to her dead child. I always say that writing it down on paper releases your burden in your head…it is true, I think writing letters, even the ones she didn’t send helped her quiet her head, at least for a while. I truly love this book. I have been borrowing books from Libby to read for our book club for a very long time, there have been books that I fell in love with, and always thought if I want to read them again I’ll just borrow them again, this book is the first one that I want to own physically to put on my shelf and know that I have it to read over and over again when I want to reflect and then quiet my head. ( This is the longest review I’ve written about a book I’ve read, I hope it makes sense).
