A short, gentle first salon visit for puppies under six months. The goal is confidence, not a perfect haircut. We introduce your puppy to handling, the bath, the dryer and the sound of clippers at their pace. The dogs who love the salon at five years old are the ones who had a calm, low-pressure first visit at four months.

What's included

  • Calm welcome and handling introWe let your puppy explore the space and get used to being lifted onto the table without pressure.
  • Optional warm bathSome puppies are ready for a gentle warm bath, others aren't. We follow your puppy's lead. If they're not ready, we leave it for next time.
  • Gentle blow dry exposureWe turn on the dryer at a distance first so they hear the sound, then introduce gentle airflow once they've settled.
  • Clipper sound exposureWe turn on the clippers near (not on) your puppy so they learn the sound is normal. No actual clipping unless they're ready.
  • Light face and paw tidy if appropriateIf your puppy is settled, we'll do a soft face tidy and a paw tidy. If they're not ready, we don't push it.
  • Nail trim if toleratedFirst nail trim is often skipped or done one paw at a time. We never restrain a panicking puppy.
  • Honest debrief at pickupWe tell you exactly how it went, what your puppy struggled with and what they handled well. We'll suggest the next visit's pace.

How it works

01
Drop off and hello

Long settle time. We let your puppy explore the salon and meet the team before anything begins.

02
Build the experience

We choose what to introduce based on your puppy's body language. Bath, dryer, clipper sounds, handling. We don't tick a box just to tick it.

03
Stop before stressed

We finish before your puppy is overwhelmed. A short positive visit is worth ten times a long stressful one.

04
Pickup and debrief

We talk you through what worked, what didn't, and recommend the next visit's pace and timing.

Puppy intro grooms run 30 to 45 minutes, sometimes shorter. Short and positive is the whole point. We'd rather your puppy leave feeling great than leave looking perfect.

Afterpay available. Split into four interest-free fortnightly payments at checkout.

Why this matters more than the haircut

Most adult dogs who hate the groomer didn't start that way. They had a stressful first visit (often a full groom too early), associated the salon with fear, and that fear stuck. Once a dog is grooming-phobic, undoing it takes patience and a lot of short low-pressure visits to rebuild trust.

You can skip all of that by starting with short, calm, low-pressure intro sessions when your puppy is between 12 and 20 weeks old. Their second core vaccination needs to be done first (usually around 12 weeks), but after that the sooner the better. Repeat every 2 to 4 weeks until your puppy is comfortable with the full process.

From around six months old, when their adult coat starts coming through, your puppy is ready to graduate to a full long coat groom or short coat groom depending on their coat type.

Frequently asked questions

How young can my puppy come?

From around 12 weeks, after their second core vaccination is complete. Earlier is fine for a meet-the-salon visit, but no bath until vaccinations are done.

Is my puppy too old for an intro groom?

Under six months is the sweet spot. Six to nine months is still fine if your puppy is nervous or hasn't been groomed before. Beyond that, a normal full groom is usually the right call.

Will my puppy actually get groomed?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. The point is positive exposure, not a perfect cut. If your puppy is calm and settled, we'll do as much as they're comfortable with. If they're overwhelmed, we'll stop and try more next time.

How often should we come?

Every 2 to 4 weeks until your puppy is fully relaxed with the process. Three or four short positive visits build the trust that makes lifelong grooming easy.

Can I stay with them?

For the very first puppy intro, you're welcome to come in and meet the team. Most puppies actually settle better once their human leaves, so for following visits we'll usually have you wait in the lounge or come back at pickup.

What about the noise of the dryer and clippers?

Big part of why we do this. We expose puppies to the sounds at a distance first, then closer once they've settled. Most puppies barely react after two or three visits.

Do you do all puppy breeds?

Yes, every breed and size. Coat type changes which products we use but the approach is the same.

Can I use Afterpay?

Yes. Available at checkout.

Finally Fixed the Dead Zones in My House
Size: 3 Pack, Style: Wi-Fi 7 BE5000
I bought this after getting tired of dealing with weak Wi-Fi in certain parts of the house, and the difference was noticeable almost immediately. Setup was much easier than I expected and only took a few minutes. Before installing it, video calls would freeze, pages would take forever to load, and some devices would randomly disconnect when moving farther from the router. Since adding this mesh extender, the connection has been much more consistent and I’m getting coverage in areas that barely had a signal before. I also like that devices seem to switch between the router and extender smoothly without me having to think about it. If you're struggling with dead spots or unreliable Wi-Fi, this has been a worthwhile upgrade.

Very outdoor. Outstanding outdoor Wi-Fi — perfect companion for Starlink (even in winter!
Size: 1 Pack Outdoor, Style: Wi-Fi 7 BE5000, Size: 1 Pack Outdoor, Style: Wi-Fi 7 BE5000
I’m using this as the main router at an off-grid cabin, connected directly to a Starlink Mini, and it has been phenomenal. The coverage and stability are far better than the built-in Starlink Wi-Fi router, especially outdoors and around multiple buildings. This unit serves as the primary node in my network, with a few Deco M5 units extending the mesh, and the handoff between them is seamless. I’m getting reliable coverage over roughly 3 acres, including around the cabin, outbuildings, and yard — something the Starlink router couldn’t come close It’s mounted outdoors and has gone through freezing winter conditions with snow, ice, and icicles forming around it — zero issues so far. Performance hasn’t dropped, and it’s stayed rock solid. Setup was straightforward, management through the app is easy, and once it’s running you basically forget about it — which is exactly what i want. If you’re running Starlink at a rural property, cabin, farm, or large yard, this is an excellent upgrade and easily worth it. Strong signal, wide coverage, and dependable even in harsh conditions. Highly recommended..!.

Great signal throughout the house and beyond
Size: 3 Pack, Style: Wi-Fi 7 BE5000
Got this set of 3 to replace the single rental EERO that the service provider put in when my mom got fiber. My biggest issue with the EERO was that the service provider set it up, meaning I had no way to control the device. Specifically, my mom is old and apt to click on scam ads or to call the number when a scam popup freezes her keyboard (thanks a lot, Zuckerberg). The only layer of protection I can give her is an adblock DNS, and to do so I need control. Also, I could not get her living room TV to connect to WiFi and signal was starting to drop off a bit in rooms farthest from that single device. At the time of purchase, this was the most economical 3 mesh device WiFi 7 system from a well established brand. The devices are a bit bulky, but are not eye sores and seem to be very well made. The available wall mount brackets for this style router appear to be more secure than the ones for the cylindrical models, and they won't look as goofy hanging on the wall which is another plus. Mounting brackets are sold separately. Her TV still does not connect to WiFi, so placed one of these near the TV and connected it via ethernet cable. The third is in one of the rooms farthest from the main base. The range is quite acceptable, with my phone getting full signal strength in the yard @ >50' from the house in some places. During setup, was given the option to set up MLO WiFi, aka Multi-Link Operation, which creates a second WiFi network that may provide higher throughput than the basic WiFi connection. It is not compatible with all devices, so likely best practice to connect lower need or 'potato quality' devices to the lower throughput base network (phones, TVs, tablets, guests, etc.). The fiber speed is around 300mbps. After extensive Speed Test usage to the point that they stopped allowing me to run Speed Test, both the Base WiFi and MLO WiFi performed similarly with possibly 10-20mbps higher average via MLO. My guess is that MLO may only be truly useful for gigabit connections. Going straight WiFi with these things doesn't add any significant latency or noticeable drop in throughput in my situation, but could be a concern in larger homes and/or when more walls/junk/metal is between mesh devices. Each of these has 2 ethernet ports, and hardwiring them together with ethernet cable will provide the strongest/fastest connection between mesh devices. The theoretical maximum reliable length is 328' (100 meters) for ethernet cable, so quality Cat6 cable could really put some distance between the main base and the 3rd mesh station (possibly with some WiFi dead spots in between). This is not unique to this system, as most mesh devices have 2 or more ethernet ports.

Great router. Rename devices is easy and a welcomed option. Router reconnects quickly when provider's service drops. Remote access easy to setup. Allows the setup of 2.4 and 5 mHz networks, guest networks, iot networks.
