For many years it was thought that this Nativity scene, depicting the Adoration of the Christ, was the work of a junior member of the workshop. However, when the painting was cleaned in the 1990s the superb execution of the Holy Family was revealed and the panel is now attributed to the Master's own hand.

This is one of the major paintings that forms a part of the Fitzwilliam Collection, and it is known all over the world.
