In the central foreground six members of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's hunting party sit in a circle around a fire. Next to them on the right pots, pans, and platters sit in the sand next to a number of bushes covered in large blankets. At the far right a saluki lies in front of a near bush. Behind them a second group of men rest by a fire beside another group of bushes draped in blankets. Some of the men stand, and one walks toward the near group. In the distance beyond, rolling sands dotted with tall thin bushes rise into dunes at the horizon. This image was taken between December 20, 1948, and January 27, 1949, during which time Wilfred Thesiger stayed with Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in Al Ain and joined him on a number of hunting excursions.
