Éxito de ventas del New York Times - Ganador de los premios Hillman y Robert F. "Una documentación increíblemente minuciosa de las causas de la crisis migratoria y de los debates que se han llevado a cabo a lo largo de múltiples administraciones." --Jon Stewart, The Daily Show

The New Yorker Jonathan Blitzer.

"What an incredibly thorough documentation of the causes of the immigration crisis, the discussions that have been going on through multiple administrations." --Jon Stewart, The Daily Show

"Everyone Who Is Gone Is Here is sure to take its place as one of the definitive accounts of the U.S. and Central American immigration puzzle. . . . Hopefully, those with the power to change things will listen." --Manuel Roig-Franzia, Washington Post

An epic, heartbreaking, and deeply reported history of the disastrous humanitarian crisis at the southern border told through the lives of the migrants forced to risk everything and the policymakers who determine their fate, by New Yorker staff writer Jonathan Blitzer

Everyone who makes the journey faces an impossible choice. Hundreds of thousands of people who arrive every year at the US-Mexico border travel far from their homes. For years, the majority came from El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, but many more have begun their journey much farther away. Some flee persecution, others crime or hunger. They may have already been deported, but the United States remains their only hope for safety and prosperity. They will take their chances.

As Jonathan Blitzer dramatizes with forensic, unprecedented reporting, this crisis is the result of decades of misguided policy and sweeping corruption. Brilliantly weaving the stories of Central Americans whose lives have been devastated by chronic political conflict and violence with those of American activists, government officials, and the politicians responsible for the country's tragically tangled immigration policy, Blitzer reveals the full, layered picture of this vast and unremitting conflict.

Everyone Who Is Gone Is Here tells the epic story of the people whose lives ebb and flow across the border, delving into the heart of American life itself. This vital and remarkable story has shaped the nation's turbulent politics and culture in countless ways--and will almost certainly determine its future.

Product does not function as befits a brand name like Sony
Review updated after TWO returns to the repair center and MANY calls to both Support and the CS Escalation department: I'M STILL NOT PLEASED WITH THIS PRODUCT. During startup, this receiver bounces back and forth from input source to input source as if I triggered a roulette wheel. Where will it finally stop? In my case, I most often use Video input. Sometimes during startup, it will momentarily display the Video input as expected, but will then start jumping/fishing around to other inputs types, including those I've never used. Eventually, it may return to the Video input, but it will not display the actual video or audio content. Instead, it just displays a black banner that reads VIDEO. I then have to turn the receiver off and on again hoping that maybe it will work this time. Neither Sony's escalation Team, nor the repair facility will answer the simple question, "What SHOULD it do when I first turn it on?" In addition, on at least two occasions, during startup, I saw PLEASEWAIT written across the display for 75 seconds before the device actually started up OR rebooted. (Note: THIS issue appears to be resolved by the repair center replacing a circuit board.) Another related annoyance is that when video content changes (e.g., from a show to a commercial, back to a commercial on YouTube), each break in the chain displays 5+ seconds of black screen even though you can hear the audio. This doesn't sound like much, but when it does this every time, it gets annoying AND is infinitely longer than my previous 10 y/o receiver.) About 2-3 times an hour, while viewing consistent content from the same input, the screen will suddenly go black, then the audio drops out, and then it will flash a HDCP 2.3 warning blue screen. Unacceptable! In short, and IMHO, the audio quality is very good, but basic functionality is SEVERELY clunky. Again, IMHO, this product should have NEVER gone to market. The combination of poor functionality AND a dismal customer experience forever diminishes Sony's former world-class brand status. P.S.: Sony's Escalation department told me that they simply DO NOT provide refunds if you've had the product more than 30 days. So make sure that you test ALL functionality as soon as it arrives. Caveat emptor.

My Denon ROCKS
Style: AVR-X3800H
Pros: Nine Amps power a 9.1 or 7.1.2 or 5.2.4 speaker configuration because most of us want Atmos to work in our listening room. Plenty of power available in each amp and each configuration Atmos DTS IMAX plus any other codec or audio visual enhancement is available. Yes, 4K 8K HDR all supported. Three HDMI outputs Preamp output for up to 11 channels so any combination of preamp vs. power amplifier output is available. But not both preamp AND power amp for the same channel. And you can pick and choose which channel you want for pre amp vs power amp individually. So it can function as a AV Preamp Processor at very reasonable price point. DAC (changes Digital Signal to Analog) with all the power amplifiers you could want. High quality, including DSD, is an added bonus. Setup customizable to the nth degree. Some people might say too many options but that’s the way we get this AVR to meet our individual requirements I’ve been working with the setup for the last week and have dialed in for my needs. Still playing with the HEOS but I think it’s working well for now. Various HDMI inputs need different surround settings, I like the DTS best, but the unit has a way to include default settings for each HDMI. I’ll use default settings with my BluRay. And I’ll use direct or pure or whatever the source allows for music and streaming. And most users will want a streaming stick like the Amazon one otherwise you can’t get the Atmos signal to work. Older streamers won’t pass the Atmos signal though. The only problem with a device like this is you will buy more speakers and amps and possibly even more subwoofers, the unit will support 4 subwoofers. Enjoy So I will get back to you with comments about longer term issues. BTW the 3800 was a refurbished version for $999 . Definitely an excellent value. The online reviews are quite favorable. Even the audiophiles are still learning the nuances of setup. It’s worth the extra effort to get the most out of each user’s individual existing equipment. Cons: None. I’ve been an audio video nerd for decades so I can say that the setup effort is easily justified once the user, with user manual in hand, patiently works out the desired configuration. The audio expert online information is invaluable. I have 21MBS broadband service in my region. Even with this limitation I have more than enough added capacity with the Denon that I would never return it to seller unless someone catastrophic happened. Yes I like it that much.
