Адам Загаєвський — один із найяскравіших сучасних польських поетів. Народився у Львові у 1945 році. Попервах став відомим у Польщі як поет покоління дисидентської Нової хвилі (Nova Fala) у 1968 році. З часом про Адама Загаєвського заговорили не тільки як про автора поетичних збірок, а і як прозаїка, есеїста. Однак у 1975 році його перестали друкувати у Польщі. У 1982 році він емігрував і протягом багатьох років жив то у Парижі, то згодом у Кракові, де мав нагоду викладати у Ягеллонському університеті, то у Х’юстоні (США) — де обіймав посаду професора англійської літератури. Загаєвський помер у Кракові 21 березня 2021 року. Це — перша збірка поезій Адама Загаєвського, перекладена українською.
