Fitment Notes

  • This rear stabiliser link is a long-running platform component shared across the Mitsubishi Pajero II, Pajero Sport I, and L200/Triton (KA_T / KB_T) chassis family from the early 1990s through 2015. The same part fits petrol (4G64, 6G72, 6G74) and diesel (4D56, 4M40, 4M41) engine variants.
  • Always verify the engine code and chassis match before ordering. Send us your VIN if verification is needed.
  • This part fits either the left or right rear position - the same stabiliser link is used on both sides.
  • Stabiliser links should be replaced as a pair across the rear axle. A worn link on one side means the paired link on the other side is usually at a similar wear stage. Order 2 units of MAP-100578 for a full rear axle replacement.
  • The L200/Triton Cab/Chassis variant (KA_T / KB_T) is the single-cab/chassis configuration sold in South Africa as a workhorse retail variant - same suspension geometry as the standard L200/Triton bakkie.
  • The Pajero II Canvas Top (V2_C / V4_C) is the soft-top open-cabin Pajero variant. SA market presence was limited but did exist in the 1990s.

Installation / Use / Maintenance Tips

  • Compare the new stabiliser link to the removed unit before fitting - confirm overall length (150 mm), thread size (M10 x 1.25), spanner flats (17 mm), and ball joint style match.
  • Hold the ball joint stud with a hex key or spanner on the 17 mm flats while tightening the nut, to prevent the stud from spinning inside the ball joint socket.
  • Apply anti-seize compound to the threads before fitting - this makes future removal easier and protects the threads from corrosion.
  • Torque the mounting nuts to the Mitsubishi workshop specification. Do not over-torque - the ball joint stud can shear off if the nut is tightened beyond specification.
  • Inspect the stabiliser bar rubber bushes, lower control arm bushes, and the stabiliser bar itself at the same time - these wear in parallel and replacing worn links alongside healthy bushes gives poor handling results.
  • Test drive on a mix of smooth and rough roads after installation. A successful replacement should eliminate rear-end clunking over bumps and improve cornering stability.
  • Check rear suspension geometry and ride height after replacement. Significantly worn stabiliser links can mask issues with other rear suspension components.

Common Questions

What is MAP Pro?
MAP Pro is the in-house brand of Modern Auto Parts, our retail and e-commerce business based in Cape Town. MAP Pro parts are quality-tested replacement components, supplied at competitive pricing as a value alternative to premium European brands. We stand behind our MAP Pro parts with our standard return and warranty terms.

Will this fit my Pajero, Pajero Sport, or L200/Triton?
Yes, provided your vehicle appears in the fitment table above and the engine code matches. The same rear stabiliser link is used across the long-running Mitsubishi Pajero II, Pajero Sport I, Pajero II Canvas Top, and L200/Triton (KA_T / KB_T) production runs.

Do I need one or two?
Stabiliser links are a left-and-right pair. Order 2 of this SKU to replace both rear links at the same time - a worn link on one side usually means the opposite link is at a similar wear stage. Replacing only one often results in the new link feeling mismatched against the worn link on the other side.

What are the symptoms of a worn stabiliser link?
Common symptoms include: clunking or knocking sounds from the rear suspension over bumps or speed humps, increased body roll in corners, uneven tyre wear, a loose or vague handling feel, and visible play in the ball joints when pried with a lever. On inspection, worn links usually show torn rubber boots, loose ball joints, or visible damage.

What does "M10 x 1.25" thread mean?
M10 refers to the metric thread diameter (10 mm) and 1.25 refers to the thread pitch (1.25 mm between thread peaks). This is the standard fine-thread specification for Mitsubishi stabiliser link mounting points. The matching nut should also be M10 x 1.25.

What's the difference between MR344624, MR586053, and MB598098?
These are progressive Mitsubishi OE part revisions for the rear stabiliser link covering the long Pajero/Triton production run. The MB prefix indicates older Mitsubishi parts numbering, while MR is the newer convention adopted after Mitsubishi Motors' part-number reform. All three references apply to the same physical component - MAP-100578 is compatible with all factory revisions.

Is the mounting hardware included?
Yes. This stabiliser link is supplied with the necessary mounting hardware (nuts and washers) so you can install it without sourcing additional fasteners.

How do I confirm fitment?
Verify your vehicle model, chassis code, engine code, and year match the fitment table above. The engine code is stamped on the cylinder block and listed on the vehicle placard. If in doubt, send us your VIN and a photograph of your existing stabiliser link for confirmation before ordering.

This suit was perfect for my son’s senior prom. Quality material and fit him perfectly! This was ideal when you don’t want to rent a tuxedo, knowing he will use it again and again. He looked so very handsome.

Just an unbelievable purchase and strongly recommend
Color: Black, Size: Medium
Unbelievable! One of the BEST purchases I made. Fits perfectly, wasn’t wrinkled at all. In fact, I don’t need to take it to the cleaners to be pressed. Class all the way. Well made, elegant, fabric was perfect as it was not too thin. Compared to tuxedos in the store and this was exactly the same. Only difference is this suit was $150 less!

Good. Decent quality.
Color: Black, Size: Small
The quality is good, especially for the price. I didn’t like that the wrist buttons were non functional. We bought cuffs that he couldn’t use. It looks nice. The size is a little big for my son, but that was kind of expected. I was hoping we would get lucky and that wouldn’t be the case but I couldn’t find any suites in a smaller size that would arrive on time. He is 5’7, 120-125 pounds. It was mostly in the shoulders that it looks big. He is thin. The arm length fit him but he does have long arms. The pants fit with a little looseness. His jeans size at American eagle is 28/36, but he can fit slightly bigger with a belt. The pants were good but the vest and jacket were a little big. They’re just slightly long and jacket is big in the shoulders. We got a size small.
