German WWII DAK Army Tropical Panzer Side Cap for Other Ranks Personnel -Very interesting offering ….Read on…This is a gorgeous side cap! These panzer caps were part of an unissued grouping of original caps that we were able to obtain. They were picked up at the Clemens Wagner factory in Hamburg and still wrapped in their original string. We feel the reason that they were never issued is because they were size stamped incorrectly. They are marked size 57 for one, but they are actually a size 54. These were taken out of the factory after the war in 45, but they are date stamped Aug with the number 54 (which in actuality is the real size). We believe this is the reason these caps were never distributed/ issued. This cap is produced in tropical brown heavy-duty cloth that is in excellent condition. There is no visible wear or discoloration to the exterior. There is a single brown enamel ventilation grommet on each side. The insignia consists of a machine applied, machine woven eagle in blue grey over tropical tan. Also seen is a hand applied cockade in the national colors over a tropical tan background. Finally, there is a pink soutache indicating panzer personnel. This is a scarce and desirable piping. The interior is fully lined in the often-seen dusky red cloth. This is excellent with just minor wear only. Excellent condition and a good conversation piece!
