Unico Espresso tasting pack

The name “Unico” stands for uniqueness—and that is exactly what this espresso tasting pack embodies: an exclusive selection of absolutely first-class blends of the very highest quality, all born from a deep dedication to the traditional Italian art of roasting. Whether traditionally Bolognese, roasted over Sicilian olive wood, or refined with exquisite Jamaica Blue Mountain—all three coffees combine the highest premium quality, artisanal perfection, and a love for the Italian roasting tradition. A harmonious taste experience with a full body, a dreamy crema, and intense notes of chocolate, nuts, and delicate fruits. A trio of delights that showcases just how multifaceted and seductive true top-tier espresso can be.

2004 Duemilaquattro with Jamaica Blue Mountain

Our Definition of Espresso Perfection

Duemilaquattro – the name says it all. It stands for the year 2004, the year Espresso International was founded. Now, 21 years later, we are crowning our passion with our first signature blend.

In close collaboration with our exclusive premium partner La Genovese, we have created an espresso that combines everything we love about coffee. At its heart are fine, complex Arabicas, complemented by a blend of first-class Robusta beans—adding strength and character without overpowering the flavor. To complete this composition, we’ve added 5% Jamaica Blue Mountain, which provides unparalleled depth and a silky sweetness. The result is a multifaceted interplay of aromas, supported by an elegant structure and a dense, finely marbled crema.

The profile: Medium roast, typically Italian, yet particularly low in acidity.

Why Duemilaquattro / 2004? Since 2004, espresso has been our life. With this proprietary roast, we bring together two decades of experience and true craftsmanship. Alessandro and Matteo Borea have perfectly realized our vision of a dream espresso—a quality you can taste in the balance, mouthfeel, and crema with every sip.

The flavor profile: The first impression captivates with notes of milk chocolate, hazelnut, and caramel, underscored by roasted almond. These are followed by fruity nuances of red apple, apricot, and dried fruit. A hint of vanilla and honey rounds out the experience and ensures a long finish. The Jamaica Blue Mountain adds an elegant touch that beautifully highlights the coffee’s natural sweetness.

The body is full, silky, and perfectly balanced. Thanks to its very low acidity, the intense flavors are soft and harmoniously integrated. As a pure espresso, the Duemilaquattro captivates with its clarity and texture; in milk-based drinks, the chocolate and nutty aromas come through powerfully. The finish is long-lasting and elegant: caramel and almond meet honey and a subtle fruitiness.

Why the name “Duemilaquattro”? It is the Italian word for 2004. With this, we honor our founding year and underscore our deep connection to Italian coffee culture.

Why an Italian name & roasting in Italy? As a German specialty retailer, we have been fully dedicated to Italian espresso since 2004. For us, it was the only logical step to choose a partner who lives this tradition on the ground and whose expertise meets our high standards.

Does Jamaica Blue Mountain really make a difference? Absolutely. It’s the deciding factor—the crucial touch that transforms a very good espresso into a true masterpiece.

Filicori Zecchini Espresso Kavé

The story of Filicori Zecchini began in 1919 in Bologna, when two friends, Aldo Filicori and Luigi Zecchini, turned their shared passion into a career. Today, over 100 years later, the company remains firmly in family hands and is now in its third generation of leadership. They have stayed true to tradition: the beans are processed in the classic Italian style. This means that each variety is roasted separately, slowly, and with particular care in a rotating drum, and then gently cooled in the open air.

The Taste Experience: Kavè Blend For the Kavè Blend, the beans are roasted to a medium-dark level, which brings out an intense, chocolatey aroma. It is precisely these aromas that define the flavor: look forward to pronounced notes of chocolate and hazelnut, supported by a full body. A 10% blend of Robusta beans provides the visual highlight—a rich, velvety crema with a delicate marbling that crowns this espresso.

Certified Top Quality Experts also confirm that this is an exceptional coffee: in 2014, Kavè Espresso was awarded the gold medal at the “International Coffee Tasting.” It also bears the strictly certified seal of the INEI (Instituto Nazionale Espresso Italiano). Since 1998, this institute has protected and promoted authentic Italian espresso—and thanks to its outstanding quality, Kavè is officially permitted to call itself “Espresso Italiano.”

Tre Forze Espresso

Sicilian primal power from the fires of Mount Etna

TRE FORZE! is a pioneer in Sicily that has revived an almost forgotten craft: roasting over genuine olive wood. The wood used comes from the groves surrounding Mount Etna and is dried for at least twelve months. Since the olive trees thrive on mineral-rich lava soil, the wood stores valuable substances that produce a unique, aromatic smoke when burned. The direct contact of the flame with the beans creates a distinctive espresso experience that embodies the wild spirit of Sicily.

Quality and care form the foundation of this masterpiece. The exact recipe is a closely guarded secret, but it is known that TRE FORZE! uses only select premium beans from the world’s finest highland regions. A small, carefully measured proportion of high-quality Robusta beans enhances the first-class Arabicas. These beans are roasted extremely gently and slowly over an open fire for 20 to 30 minutes until they reach their perfect point.

The result of this passionate work is revealed in the cup: a thick, velvety crema crowns the espresso. Its aroma entices with notes of dried dates, dark chocolate, and delicate macadamia nuts. On the palate, it is intense and subtly spicy, yet remains surprisingly smooth. Thanks to the gentle roasting process, the coffee has a low caffeine content and is low in tannins and bitter compounds, making it particularly smooth.

a quiet life???
This is a short story collection like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie have for Holmes and Poirot/Marple. The characters remind me of the Phryne Fisher books. There are four stories in Book 1 A Quiet Life in the Country Lady Emily Hartcastle and her maid Miss Florence Armstrong are enjoying some time in the country in the small town of Littleton Cotterell when they come across a dead body. They find out that it is Frank Pickering, a local man and it is thought that he committed suicide. But investigating, it seems that he has been murdered. Who did it and why? The Circus comes to town Lady Hartcastle meets an old friend George who is the manager who for a circus that has come to town. The next day, the juggler Hubert 'Huey' Parving is found dead mawled in a cage and then others began to die. Who is behind this? The Case of the Missing Case Lady Hartcastle and Flo go to the engagement party of young Clarissa Farley-Strouds. The next day, Nelson Holloway, the trumpet player with that night's entertainment - Roland Richman's Ragtime Revue. Who killed him? As they investigate, the clues lead them to possible cursed stolen jewel. The Half-Death of Gunther Ehrlichmann Florence recounts her life before and after meeting Lady and Lord Hartcastle as she and Lady Hartcastle along with Lady Hartcastle's brother hunt down a killer. Each story is tied into the other, but exciting! Must read!

Fun Seeing Where it All Begins for the Fantastic Amateur Detecting Duo
Format: Audiobook
I started with book three in this series, progressed forward, and finally took the opportunity to go back and get the first book in the series. The whimsical, cozy mystery paired with historical Edwardian setting was light and whimsical. Actually, when I started listening, I realized that the first book introduced Lady Hardcastle and her ladies' maid, Florence Armstrong along with their new home and the other regular characters, in such a way that it didn't feel like the first book so much as the first of the stories that had been recorded. There are hints of their unusual, dangerous work abroad and no big explanation why the pair happened to be set upon 'a quiet life in the country' or why Lady Hardcastle and Florence have a relationship that is nearly family rather than an employer and servant from separate classes. The author trickles out the details and the reader/listener must catch them and piece them together as they go. Because I had experienced later books, those pieces stuck out easily to me. The meeting with Inspector Sunderland and the local villagers and neighborhood was fun. There are two murder mysteries that have interesting crossover people and facts. One seems to involve a dead man from the village cricket team whose death was meant to appear like a suicide and then later, the death of a rag-time band trumpeteer that played at the engagement party of the local squire's daughter. A theft is tossed in for good measure. I figured out one of the murders and part of the theft and the second murder, but the ultimate solution took me by surprise. Loved seeing the intrepid Flo able to get in some of her martial arts ability and spend time trailing along as they teased out the solution along side Inspector Sunderland. Elizabeth Knowelden is an absolute gem of a narrator and the voice of this series for me. She laid out the Edwardian country village world, the variety of genders and accents, and kept the pace and tone for this series just right. All in all, I thought this first entry was as fabulous as the later books and do not hesitate to put it out there as a good bet for historical cozy mystery lovers.

It seems to protect the skin, but then again I put some on every hour on the hour and didn't have any issues. I will be reordering. I wish this was on subscribe and save, but will continue to purchase.
