Like all wooden utensils and kitchenware, care must be taken to ensure both longevity and safety. It is important to "season" your wooden utensils before you use them. Start by washing with hot, soapy water and allow to fully air dry. Liberally apply food-grade mineral oil/beeswax to your spoon and wipe away excess.
Season (and occasionally sand) your wooden kitchenware, regularly!
