Chartered by the English in 1663, the colony of Carolina split into North Carolina and South Carolina in 1710. Its development was gradual, but settlement started to increase around 1750 when many German, Scotch-Irish, and other settlers migrated down the Great Wagon Road from Pennsylvania and Maryland through Virginia and into central North Carolina. Some of the immigrants turned westward near Fincastle and followed the Wilderness Road through southwestern Virginia into western North Carolina.

Migration routes were well established by the end of the 18th century, after county jurisdictions had been carved out and before certain western counties were ceded to the federal government to form the state of Tennessee. For anyone undertaking research in the Tar Heel State, therefore, this North Carolina Genealogy at a Glance (GAAG) explains that genealogical research must start at the county level, going back to 1663 with the formation of Albemarle County. Designed as a quick guide to genealogical research, North Carolina Genealogy Research teaches that the general rule of thumb is to start in Raleigh at the North Carolina Office of Archives and History, which houses original or microfilm copies of most county records.

Genealogical records on the county level are surprisingly complete, and this GAAG focuses on the records found on the county level that will be of most help in your genealogical research: marriage and divorce records, birth and death records, land grant records, probate records, and military records. In each case, tips for further research are included, key publications are cited, and the background of the records is placed in historical context.

A very useful guide for the beginner, North Carolina Genealogy Research also includes a list of the main books for further reference and a list of the principal online resources that are indispensable in genealogical research. In addition, it contains a comprehensive list of North Carolina repositories and their websites, giving addresses and phone numbers as well.

BNTECHGO 14 Gauge Silicone Wire Spool 40 feet Ultra Flexible High Temp 200 degrees
Size: silicone wire red 20ft and black 20ft, Color: Red and Black
I'm reworking all the interior and exterior electrical wiring, relay's, connections (body grounds as well) on my 1994 GMC K-2500, the original wire did a good service for the 25 years it has been used. I'm disabled and refuse to pay $50,000 for a new truck (it wouldn't run as well as my 1994 anyway) I was hesitant about this brand or wire, but I thought (I'm not supposed to do that) I would give them a chance thanks to the reviews. I was Extremely Pleased at the High Quality of this "Real Copper" wire, not aluminum w/ coated- COPPER !, tinned very well, the silicone insulation is real industrial grade silicone. I run all my wire inside of braided nylon sheathing and securely fasten it every 24", using adhesive lined shrink tubing over all connections- works very well with this wire, it is easy to form for tight turns, lays straight once laid out, soders excellently (the top notch tinning helps there), I now have several hundred feet of 18, 16, 14 and 12 gauge of this VERY High Quality wire (It will be used on my solar system as well now) Thanks again Amazon for another "Top Quality, First Class" product that I can have delivered to my door, 90 miles from town, AND Thanks to everyone who takes the time to review the items we all could benefit from knowing better what the strong and weak points are

Solders nice, extremely flexible maybe too flexible
Size: silicone wire red 20ft and black 20ft, Color: Red and Black
The wire solders very nicely. It's very flexible, perhaps a little too flexible. I used this wire in a couple speaker building projects. I like to put the wire in a drill and twist the wires together, it's a nice look and helps with wire management. The too flexible part makes it so the wire doesn't stay tightly twisted. To remedy that I use heat shrink at either end to at least keep the wires somewhat together.

Quality heat resistant wire.
Size: silicone wire red 25ft and black 25ft, Color: Red and Black
Quality, heat resistant silicone wire for my heating coil wine bottle cutting project. I didn’t need very much, but provided me the best price and option. No regrets.
