The JYRO Safire 4 is the modern all-rounder in the JYRO canopy family: more performance and bite than the Helium, more approachability than the Crossfire 3, and a whole lot of grin-factor for jumpers who want one wing that can grow with them.

Built from the much-loved Safire lineage, the Safire 4 keeps the smooth, confidence-building personality that made the Safire 3 such a favourite, then adds cleaner aerodynamics, a stronger landing package and more refined response. It is forgiving enough to be a serious progression wing, but lively enough that experienced jumpers will not feel like they have bought a parachute with the fun removed.

Who it is for

  • Licensed jumpers moving into their first true sport canopy with coaching and sensible wing loading.
  • Intermediate flyers who want a reliable daily-driver with smooth openings and an energetic flare.
  • Experienced jumpers who prefer predictable, low-drama handling without giving up responsive flight.
  • Jumpers who want a canopy that feels comfortable on normal skydives, hop-and-pops, boogies and busy landing patterns.

Flight character

Safire 4 is designed to be intuitive rather than twitchy. Openings are soft, stable and on-heading, helped by JYRO’s bow-tie bridle attachment that spreads deployment forces more evenly. Toggle response is clean and progressive, giving you room to fly accurate landing patterns and plenty of range for the flare. Harness input is there when you ask for it, but the canopy does not demand constant attention just to stay civilised.

Rear-riser performance has been improved for long spots and efficient glide, while front risers remain usable when you want to pick up speed or tighten a turn at appropriate wing loadings. The recovery is quick and predictable, with a polished powerband that makes landings feel strong without turning the wing into a swoop machine.

Design features

  • Mini-ribs sharpen the trailing edge to improve glide and flare performance.
  • Bow-tie bridle attachment supports symmetrical, reliable inflation.
  • 3D-designed lineset geometry refines cascade lengths and overall flight efficiency.
  • Updated brake configuration gives a broader, more powerful and more progressive flare range.
  • Powerband leading-edge shaping helps maintain the nose shape and reduce unwanted drag.
  • Balanced centre-to-tip inflation supports consistent heading performance during deployment.

Construction and sizing

The Safire 4 uses JYRO’s J-ZP zero-porosity fabric and is intended for the 109–189 size range, with manufacturer guidance around 1.0–1.6 wing loading. Aspect ratio is listed by JYRO as 2.55, with an approximate glide ratio of 2.8 and taper ratio of 0.83.

Options

Choose the canopy size and available line type from the product options. If you are replacing an existing canopy or changing size, confirm the wing loading, pack volume and suitability with a qualified canopy coach or rigger before ordering.

Pack volume and ordering notes

JYRO’s pack-volume guidance is based on field data and should be treated as a guide, not a guarantee. Container age, packing technique, fabric age and the exact model of container can all change the fit. If you are changing from another canopy model, confirm the planned size against your container and reserve setup before ordering.

For most jumpers, the Safire 4 decision is about matching progression goals with realistic wing loading. The smaller end of the range gives a sharper, more energetic sport feel; the larger sizes preserve the friendly Safire personality while giving newer sport pilots room to build accuracy, pattern discipline and landing confidence. Choose the line option that matches your canopy plan and maintenance expectations.

Before you order

Canopy descriptions are useful, but they do not replace a real suitability check. Your exit weight, currency, landing area, container compatibility, previous canopy history and coaching plan all matter. If you are between sizes or moving into a new performance class, get confirmation from a qualified canopy coach or rigger before placing the order. That keeps the purchase aligned with how you actually fly, not just how good the spec sheet looks.

REALLY unsafe to walk around in these
Size: 2 pairs black L
They do what they are expected to do, but should only be used if you are stationary. The gel base makes for very unstable footing if walking around

Potential Fall Risk
Size: 2 pairs black L
While these socks do indeed help soften rough skin on your feet, there is a risk of falling while wearing them. Although they have treads on the bottom, which would indicate they’re safe to wear with nothing else, when you put moisturizer on and then wear them your foot can slip inside the sock . This causes you to lose your balance and fall, which happened to me. I’ve thrown them out.

I could be a foot model now!!!
Size: 1 pair black L
I wear work boots almost all of the time so I bought these to put on my feet with salycylic acid to moisturize and try to get rid of a stubborn corn on the ball of my foot. It helped drastically after a few nights of lounging in the house with them on.

Works for foot psoraisis
Size: 2 pairs black L
Got these for work (service industry) to reduce issues with psoriasis and blisters while putting on 20k+ steps a day. Over time the wounds healed and I could work without so much pain. I now don't use them all the time like I used to, only when a new lesion or blister appears, too prevent a breakout. Tip: if you're not in full breakout, wear thick socks under these as a barrier to friction.
