Arts + Crafts Hungarian Large Sterling Jasper + Enameled "Pierrot Clown" EarringsIn 17th century Paris, theatrical audiences were very familiar with "Pierrot," a stock character that appeared frequently in commedia dell'arte stage productions. Troupes of Italian players performed in scenes featuring these well known characters, which are still widely used in theatrical productions in the modern day. Pierrot represents a sad, expressive clown, who yearns for the love of a woman named "Columbine," another familiar stock character.

In 17th century Paris, theatrical audiences were very familiar with "Pierrot," a stock character that appeared frequently in commedia dell'arte stage productions. Troupes of Italian players performed in scenes featuring these well-known characters, which are still widely used in theatrical productions in the modern day. Pierrot represents a sad, expressive clown, who yearns for the love of a woman named "Columbine," another familiar stock character. He has been depicted in several fashions, but is generally shown unmasked, with a painted white face, loose buttoned blouse, and simple skull cap. At other times, he has been costumed more elaborately, wearing a wide, frilly collar and pointed jester's hat.

Magnificent Austro-Hungarian "Pierrot" clown earrings from the Arts & Crafts (ca1910) era! Crafted in .930 purity silver, these elaborate and unique earrings are particularly large in size and dangle with lovely movement. Each features a gorgeous oval-shaped jasper stone at the center of a colorful enameled border. The smooth stones exhibit a creamy light brown hue with veins of navy blue, gray, and black marbling and riveted through the center of each is a lovely basket-shaped plaque, adorned with bright green, orange, and white enameling. A flowing, enameled wirework border surrounds each oval-shaped stone, creating delicate cutouts and a scalloped edge. The enameled border is embellished with similar bright colors with the addition of dark and light blue hues, creating a vivid color scheme. Four 3-dimenstional Pierrot clown busts rest symmetrically atop the border, whose faces are decorated with white enameling. A silver cap sits on top of their head and a decorated collar completes the motif. Finishing the look are three silver accent beads that dangle from the base, adding wonderful movement to the design. Each earring hangs from a domed filigree surmount, attached to simple wires at the top. Stamped on the back of each earring is a "935" silver purity mark. These beautifully elaborate and unusual earrings are a great example of traditional Austro-Hungarian jewelry and would make a special statement when worn!

Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 2 7/8" long (including the wire at the top), measures about 1 3/8" wide, and 1/4" thick.

Condition: The earrings are in good antique condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting. The jasper stones are intact and securely set. The earring wires are secure and in good working condition. There is some light chipping to parts of the enameling, however, it is hardly noticeable when worn and does not distract from the overall beauty of the earrings.

Obsessed. Soothing, effective, fragrance-free, incredibly healing
Style: Tolerance Daily Foaming Facial Cleanser
I’ve been loving this so much I bought a second bottle after a few days of using it. It has all the skin soothing benefits of the tolerance lotion cleanser, but it’s also a really great cleanser. It’s almost not noticeable how good it is at cleansing because your skin doesn’t feel stripped after, but it takes things off really quickly. I was worried because it doesn’t foam a lot and it feels so nurturing — much like the tolerance lotion cleanser (which I use as a second cleanse when my skin needs a few days to recover from something like a derm office treatment) — but when I wash again with my favorite HG cleanser nothing extra comes off, and I tested it twice on waterproof eyeliner that I’d swiped on my forearm for an hour or so, the eyeliner dissolved and wiped off with two or three gentle swipes. It has a very emollient texture, so when you rub it against your skin it slips so easily you don’t realize it’s dissolving and taking things away because there is no friction. So it’s great at taking off makeup, it’s AMAZING at cleaning makeup brushes, and IT DOES NOT BURN MY EYES AT ALL. Also, it is FRAGRANCE-FREE… before I bought it I read a review complaining about smelling a citrus fragrance, that person either has some sort of brain tumor or something spilled on their bottle when it was in a warehouse because this is definitely a fragrance-free product. Prior to trying this, I had tried another cleanser that gave me weird acne hives all over my chest (never happened to me before) and I was struggling to heal the acne and the irritation. I noticed an immediate difference when I started using the tolerance cleanser on it; the fresh redness went away, the acne started healing, and the post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation has been healing fast. So I’ve been using this on my body as well and it’s soothing and moisturizing in all the places where other things have been drying. I have mild rosacea and I hadn’t realized how irritated my skin was from the last thing I’d tried until after 5 days or so of using this my skin tone looked much more even and the stubborn PIH I have from a two-zit hormonal breakout a month ago finally looked dramatically lighter (as recently as the week before, I’d needed to cover them with high-coverage concealer). Because this doesn’t foam much, some people might not realize how well it’s cleaning… I encourage you to judge it based on how your skin looks and feels. Since it is very emollient though, I do think it’s important to use it with a face wash scrubber or washcloth just to ensure you’re getting some mild mechanical exfoliation and clearing away skin cells that could be trapping stuff in your pores. For this reason, I do wash my face with this twice so the first wash can get off makeup/debris/oil and then the second wash can really penetrate and clean my skin.

No Scent and Gentle
Style: Tolerance Daily Foaming Facial Cleanser
I broke out in a case of Perioral Dermatitis recently and bought this product to help before I could see my doctor. Avene Tolerance facial cleanser has no scent and is very gentle on my skin. It didn’t burn when washing with this product, and even helped to slough off the dead skin around my lips. My face feels clean, not dry. I am still going to see my doc to get an RX for the inflammation, but I do believe this product helped to alleviate the dryness and tightness of my skin and lips. I’ve used other Avene products and I’m very happy with them. Even though these products are more expensive, to me they are well worth the money because they are much more gentle on the skin than any other products I’ve used. I will buy this product again just because of the fact that it’s so gentle. PS: at the time of purchase for this product, I also bought Avene’s Tolerance Control Skin Recovery Cream (you don’t need to use a lot of this one on your entire face), and Avene’s Cicalfate for lips. Between these 3 products, my lips and skin feel a lot better (however, I will still see my doctor because I have Crohn’s Disease and Perioral Dermatitis is considered an extra-intestinal side effect of Crohn’s).

Gentle everyday cleanser!
Style: Tolerance Daily Foaming Facial Cleanser
My go to nightly cleanser! Gentle yet effective. Removes makeup without leaving any residue behind. Also does not dry out my skin or cause breakouts! I would say it’s more of a cream cleanser though. It does not really foam up. It’s a decent size bottle for the price. The pump dispenser is an added plus!

So gentle and moisturizing. Great for super sensitive skin.
Style: Tolerance Daily Foaming Facial Cleanser
This is so gentle and moisturizing. Does not irritate my skin in any way. My skin is super sensitive and I have atopic dermatitis, it has been the best cleanser I’ve used to date. I was using another one from this brand and it was fine but this is the one I will continually stick with from now on. Just hope they don’t change the formula.
