Pour and flow paintings evolved over many years from florals to landscape to more abstract expression. Lopez was moved by the impressions he created but stymied by the limitations of the canvas' flat surface. He discovered a new way of working with the pour and flow technique while on a trip to Santa Fe, N.M., where he happened upon the work of an artist who taught him to manipulate the canvas in unexpected ways. He spent the next few months learning the method of lifting, folding and waving the canvas, applying layer upon layer of color, to perfect his visions with dizzying results. Pour and flow is a method of painting in which paint is poured onto the canvas and gravity helps create images without the use of a single paintbrush.

His present pour and flow work was influenced by Paul Jenkins, a master pour and flow painter living in Paris, France.

Ryan says "I choose the title of each piece at the end of creation or the name unfolds during the process of creation. Generally, I choose not to title what I see in my own mind. I prefer to choose an adjective or verb which exemplifies the energy of the piece. That way I do not identify the piece as I see it but rather leave it up to the observer to make that decision. I have always liked the look of watercolor and now I have been able to create that look on canvas. In 2008 I moved to South East Asia to pursue more (oriental design) in creation. Pieces like Butterfly and Oriental Garden were the beginnings of experimental paintings of an oriental theme".

However my love of nature and art, began and evolved from the beauty of the Mexico and South West deserts of America. "My work tends to mimic nature," he said. Jenkin's work is more abstract than mine, and I enjoy mimicking nature. Lopez rediscovered his passion for creating when he began experimenting with the pour and flow technique in the late 1990’s.

Working without thinking, in something of a trance-like state of being completely "present" in the moment, Lopez has created a body of work filled with ethereal images that, with few exceptions, seem to depict some of nature's most breathtaking scenes. With paintings bearing titles such as "Windstorm," "Slickrock" and "Fire and Ice," Lopez occasionally begins with an idea of what he wants to create. The unpredictable nature of paint pulled by gravity, however, often results in an entirely unexpected image. It is not uncommon for a single painting to be finished only after more than 20 layers of paint have been applied. With a drying period between applications, the pieces often take days from start to finish. "The canvas speaks back to me when I'm working," Lopez said. "The images depend on tood. The process of creating is where the passion is." This is for all the marbles; this time it's for passion," Lopez said. "I want to release myself from this tension and go into the freedom of pure creativity. I don't want to wait. I want to do it while I'm young."

Young adult wlw romance
Format: Kindle
Picked this one up spontaneously. It's a cute YA romance between Murphy, a lesbian trying to pass her accounting class, and an old highschool classmate, Ellie. Ellie has glamped up into an artsy bisexual just trying to convince her mom to splurge on grad school in NYC. When they run into each other at a bar, they find out they can help each other after discovering Ellie's mom is Murphy's professor! it's fake dating and one night to forever 😍 there's no spice but tons of humor! The characters read their age, young, disorganized, semi toxic. More of a young adult read.

Cute holiday fake dating book
Format: Paperback
This is a quick and easy fake-dating holiday sapphic romance. It did feel a bit rushed, but the characters in the book are all likeable. Ellie and Murphy are our main characters. You also get to see that struggle of when you are an adult, but you don’t quite have life figured out and some still treat you like a kid. Well, some of us are well past the age of the characters in this book and still look around for an adult. So, that part is relatable. There were parts where the book did feel clunky. I still enjoyed the book, and it was a nice break from some of my darker reads. Especially going into the holidays. I would classify this as new adult romance.

Brave and moving
Format: Kindle
What a perfect Christmas story! I finished it a few days ago and I'm still thinking about the characters, how well-done the story was, and how the author managed to make me feel like I was right there in Illinois with Murphy as we followed her holiday adventures. Murphy just wants to pass the accounting class she's struggling in so that she can join her best friend, Kat, at the college they've always dreamed of attending. Kat is already there, living her best life, while Murphy had to stay behind in their small hometown. Murphy has made the best of a bad situation, becoming a marketing sensation for the coffee shop she works at, but she misses Kat and all the plans they had. When Kat's long-awaited visit home for the holidays takes an unexpected turn--she's brought her boyfriend home with her--Murphy feels even worse than before, until she runs into a former classmate who has a plan that will help them both. Ellie needs Murphy to pretend to be her girlfriend for a family dinner. In return, if Murphy can impress Ellie's mom, who happens to be Kat's accounting professor at community college, maybe Murphy will pass that difficult class after all. The only problem? The girls didn't expect for real feelings for form. And Murphy didn't count on having fights with Kat. Or for everything to get a whole lot more complicated. I just loved this book. Murphy is someone I think a lot of queer girls will identify with and my heart ached for her at more than one point. Meanwhile, Ellie is a likeable enough love interest with a story of her own. I felt the very real chemistry between them and the pining, too. It was clear right from the start that there could be something there, if only they were both brave enough to take the chance right in front of them. At its core a story about growing up, navigating the dynamics of a changing friendship, and accepting unexpected blessings, I'll Get Back to You is a really sweet and moving holiday story.
