Sixty-six books, forty authors, written over nearly 2,000 years, in many different genres. A worldwide best-seller published in countless translations and languages. A book that has been sworn by in court, fought over, and quoted in arguments. Clearly, the Bible is no ordinary book. So how can we begin to read and understand the Bible as a whole? In this excellent overview, Vaughan Roberts paints the big picture, showing how the different parts of the Bible fit together under the theme of the kingdom of God. He offers us tools to read it with confidence, enthusiasm and understanding. Vaughan points us to the Bible's supreme subject, Jesus Christ, and the salvation God offers through him.

______________
Vaughan came to faith as he read through Matthew’s Gospel for himself as a teenager. After studying law at Cambridge University and a brief spell doing student ministry in South Africa, he moved to Oxford to study Theology at Wycliffe Hall and has lived in the city ever since. In 1991 he joined the staff of St Ebbe’s Church to lead the student ministry and since 1998 he has been Rector. He is also the Director of the Proclamation Trust, an organisation that encourages and equips Bible teachers. In his spare time Vaughan writes books and plays tennis and golf.
______________
Vaughan Roberts wrote a superb introductory book helping people understand the storyline of the Bible. Roberts traces the main theme of the kingdom of God throughout his writings, beginning with Genesis and ended in Revelation. He begins his book by explaining that a majority of his writing relied heavily on the Gospel and Kingdom by Graeme Goldsworthy (10). His introduction covers several elementary areas such as the books of the Bible, order, and how the Old Testament relates to the New Testament (12-20). Relating the New Testament to the Old Testament, Roberts argues for a Christocentric hermeneutic (16-20)...Roberts's book may remain one my favorite entry-level books to teach others Biblical Theology. Teaching others the storyline of the Bible by utilizing Roberts charts has proven significantly practical for learners. Roberts understanding of the Kingdom as God's people in God's place under God's rule will help you identify where you are within any book in the Bible. Buy it, read it and enjoy! Mike Parks
