An abundance of clear water, sand, and timber made the town of Lauscha, Germany, the perfect location for skilled glassblowers to settle. In the 16th century, the Lauscha artists set up ovens in their homes. Over the next 300 years, families worked together to craft drinking glasses, bowls, and decorative beads.
In 1847, the glassblowers started making molded glass ornaments to sell at Christmas markets. The balls shimmered from silver that had been swirled inside.Decorations shaped like fruits, nuts, and intricate flowers were crafted. Their popularity grew quickly, and soon Christmas trees all over Germany were graced with these glass ornaments.
In Britain, decorated trees were not popular until the beloved queen was pictured with one. Queen Victoria married Prince Albert of Germany, who brought his Christmas traditions with him.? After an English magazine pictured the royal family around their tree, every fashionable family in England and the U.S. had to have a tree of their own. When Lauscha¡¯s glass ornaments were imported to England, they were an instant success.
Even today, expert glassblowers in Lauscha continue to create the delicate ornaments that became a Christmas tradition generations ago.

You're a chump
The most unique thing about Malcolm X is he never wrote anything, he simply spoke the truth and that alone has proven to withstand the tides of time because his words are still fresh as ever. His speeches always find a way to get to your spirit and makes you rethink the world you are living in. After reading this book, i forget which speech it was exactly, he mentioned something about negores not knowing their history and it was up to them to go forth and reconnect with their homeland. This led me to wonder where I came from. Even though I am not black, I felt as if he was speaking directly to me and this is the kind of power he had. he made you look upon yoyurself and force yourself to ask, "Who am i? And Do I really hate myself?" Racism is still an issue in this country. It has not gone away and malcolm X was never afraid to point out the hypocrisy of the system I was taught to honor and defend. Surely, not one the best books on his speeches out there, but nonetheless powerful enough to get you thinking about the injustice we face everyday. A man who taught you how to be a human being in the end of his life. Today, more than ever his words should never be forgotten.

Malcolm speaks from the heart
"If George Washington didn't get independence for this country nonviolently, and if Patrick Henry didn't come up with a nonviolent statement, and you taught me to look upon them as patriots and heroes, then it's time for you to realize that I have studied your books well..." Malcolm X
It is statements like this that make me love reading about Malcolm X. His intelligence, charisma and courage emanate from his words. He inspires, challenges and provokes his listeners to change their thinking. Not only does he challenge others, but he challenges himself to constantly analyze, to constantly evolve.
Malcolm X Speaks is an excellent read, from cover to cover. If you want a good idea of where Malcolm was heading before his untimely death, this is the book.

Truthfully, I can't find anything I dislike; the book arrived sooner than I anticipated. I have started reading the book (Malcolm X Speaks: Selected but have yet to finish. I am thinking about other books I will purchase in the future.

A beautiful mind
Malcom had the capacity to express his ideas in such an eloquent and smart way. This book is proof of that.
I'm studying this great human being and now I consider this an essential book for anyone, any race, any place or gender that are looking to open their minds. Definitely a must read for any person.
