The lunar year of the Dragon is the first in the series to carry the portrait of King Charles III. It is also the first UK coin to be released bearing the date 2024.

We have celebrated the Chinese zodiac since 2014, releasing new additions to The Shēngxiào Collection every year. Each coin fuses British craftsmanship with ancient Chinese traditions, ensuring the heritage and history behind this practice is evident in each design. This year is a special moment in the lunar calendar as the Dragon appears only once every 12 years – meaning this is a unique opportunity to mark an important Chinese tradition.
