Footed Red-Figure Fish Plate – After an Original in the Museum of Cycladic Art, Athens
A footed fish plate inspired by an original in the Museum of Cycladic Art, Athens (third quarter of the 4th century BC). Inside the dish, two large fish—painted in the South Italian red-figure tradition—are arranged around the central depression, with a scallop and a small shell set between them. The rim is decorated with a tongue-pattern border typical of Campanian workshops. The prototype is attributed to the Robinson Group, more specifically to the Palmer-Scallop Painter.
From the THETIS cabinet series (one-of-a-kind), made December 2001, during our collaboration with the Museum of Cycladic Art (2001–2008).
