WHY WOULD YOU WANT A CATTED DOWNPIPE?
Great question! There are multiple reasons why you would want a catted downpipe for your GTI versus a catless downpipe system.
- PASSING EMISSIONS: One of the biggest benefits of a catted downpipe is that it increases your chances of passing emissions.* The catalytic converter in the ARM GTI catted downpipe is significantly less restrictive than the OEM catalytic converter, allowing it to increase the power of your 2.0T while still going to work on burning up those exhaust gases that don't get along with the environment and the EPA.
- NO FOUL SMELLS: Well, at least from your exhaust. The catted downpipe destroys most of the elements in the exhaust gas commonly associated with catless downpipes which produce strong exhaust fumes. If you've owned a vehicle with a catless exhaust you likely know the odor associated with a catless downpipe. The ARM GTI catted downpipe eliminates the smell of many exhaust fumes above that which you would experience from the OEM downpipe.
- EXHAUST SOUND: Many enthusiasts prefer the sound of a catted downpipe over the standard catless downpipe. Having the catalytic converter in the downpipe of your GTI reduces some of the high-pitch rasp commonly associated with catless systems. It almost acts similar to a resonator in the way it effects the acoustics of the exhaust note.
CONSTRUCTION
The ARM MK6 GTI catted downpipe features a full 3" stainless steel construction with smooth bends for improved exhaust flow. The upper section of the downpipe has a CNC-machined flange that mates up to the turbo and includes a flex joint to relieve stress and make installation easier. The downpipe to catback section is where the 200 cell sport catalytic converter is placed. The ARM catted downpipe kit is designed to fit both CBFA and CCTA applications, so you can make sure that no matter which version of the 2.0T you have the ARM downpipe will accommodate your GTI.
BOLTS UP TO STOCK OR AFTERMARKET CATBACK EXHAUST
The ARM MK6 GTI catted downpipe will fit the existing OEM catback exhaust or any aftermarket exhaust that connects the OEM downpipe. The ARM downpipe kit includes a 3" to 2.25" reducer to allow it to mate up perfectly to the stock exhaust system. Or opt to connect to a 3" aftermarket exhaust system for a full 3" turbo-back setup.

Decent quality for the price

Decent quality for the price. Other privacy screens were extremely out of my budget, but this looks and works just fine- I just needed something simple to place behind my couch to hide some clutter. It took me about a half hour to assemble, but it was easy enough.
It might be due to my carpeting, but I don't trust that the screen would be stable enough to stand freely without falling. Thankfully my
plan all along was to wedge the screen between the couch and a box of clutter anyway, so for me it works as l'd planned!

Overpriced but effective.

I happened to get lucky and get a warehouse deal at an additional 30% discount. Even at $25, it feels a little overpriced. But it was easy to assemble and serves its purpose. If you line the Velcro up exactly, the panels sag, if you stretch past even, but where it still grips, they look pretty ok. It is very light and does fold very compact for easy storage.

This was horribly made and a nightmare to put together. You have to basically bend the bars to get the coverings attached. The sizes don't match. The stickers that label the parts are impossible to remove and if you do get them off theres a lot of residue left behind. On top of that once it was put together I noticed theres a big dirty foot print on it which is definitely not mine.

You have to add weight to it

It does its job and it was easy to put together but it's a little on the flimsy side and it will easily be knocked down. So you're going to have to figure out a way to make the legs heavier? I used cinder blocks, single cinder blocks and it works just fine. Just know that it will knock over super easy
