Welcome!
I'm so happy you're thinking about signing up to be a participant in one of my upcoming online poetry workshops. Curious about my background in poetry? Click through the listing photos to read more. You can also click here to see where my work has appeared.

Workshop Format
This workshop is a four-week community-oriented course consisting of four two-and-a-half-hour group video conferences (held via Discord), weekly writing assignments, and (brief) weekly reflective reading exercises. The primary objective of these workshops is to create a welcoming environment where creators can be affirmed and challenged in the work of making and finding meaning, and can develop friendships over a shared love for the power and beauty of language. Before you enroll, please read my Poetry Workshop Content & Conduct Policies to make sure you feel comfortable with the kind of environment I am seeking to foster in my workshops.

Poetry workshop participation now includes access to our poetry community on Discord—a server for all past and present poetry workshop participants to share their new writing, publications, and general poeticizing even after their workshops come to an end!

This workshop will be capped at five participants, and there must be a minimum of three participants enrolled in order for it to go ahead. I will give you a 1-week notice via email if I need to cancel due to low enrollment, in which case you will of course be refunded in full.

A full refund (minus a $30 registration fee) will be given if you need to withdraw from the workshop at least three weeks before the first session. (After that time, I'll be unable to give you a refund since it will most likely be too late for me to fill your spot. However, you will be welcome to transfer your spot to a friend.)

Note: If necessary, you can pay for your registration in four installments. Select this option at checkout to learn more.

Who Is This Workshop For?
My goal for poetry workshops is to create spaces where writers of varying skill and experience levels can learn from one another by meaningfully engaging with the craft of poetry to provide and receive in-depth feedback, constructive criticism, and encouragement. Past workshops have been laid-back, including participants with varying levels of familiarity and comfort with poetry. So whether you've been writing poetry for decades or are just dipping your toes into the world of verse, if you feel ready to commit to a month of dedicated engagement with other writers regarding your work and theirs, this workshop could be for you!

Course Requirements & Expectations
In order to facilitate robust class discussions and fruitful workshop sessions, participants will be expected to write one new poem each week, and to thoughtfully read and take notes on the poems submitted by the other participants. They will also be expected to actively engage in the workshop sessions, offering thoughtful, honest, and kind feedback on others’ poems. Since each workshop is of only four weeks' duration, it's important that participants make every effort to attend all four group sessions.

While all other readings and activities will be optional, participants will be strongly encouraged to devote some time each week to reviewing the weekly poem I'll select and send out for the purpose of enhancing class discussions and enriching participants' writing practices.

Course Dates
In order to make it possible for us to get straight into workshopping your poems in our very first session, each participant will turn in a first poem before our first workshop session, and will attend the first session prepared to discuss the poems turned in by the others. By August 30, 2024—six days before our first group sessionparticipants will be expected to email me their first poem. At least three days before the workshop begins, I'll email everyone a packet containing poems from the group, and participants will be asked to read them and be ready to offer thoughtful feedback in our first session.

Barring an unexpected emergency that may require the postponement of a session, the dates and times participants will need to be aware of are as follows:

August 30 (Friday) 11pm EDT: first poem due to me via email
September 05 (Thursday) 6:30-9pm EDT: Workshop Session
September 06 (Friday) 11 pm EDT: second poem due to me via email
September 12 (Thursday) 6:30-9pm EDT: Workshop Session
September 13 (Friday) 11 pm EDT: third poem due to me via email

September 19 (Thursday) 6:30-9pm EDT: Workshop Session
September 20 (Friday) 11 pm EDT: fourth poem due to me via email

September 26 (Thursday) 6:30-9pm EDT: Workshop Session

Greasy, does not blend in well but does not leave white marms
Overall, when researching this product, I saw that it does not leave the white residue on your face like normal sunscreen does, I’m looking for a face moisturizer first with SPF but this one feels more just like an SPF sunscreen. It is pretty greasy shortly and after a few hours of having it on, especially when sweating it makes my face feel really oily, and also it does not blend in very well such as pretty much like I just mentioned you could still feel it on your face a couple hours later but if the no white resident is the most important thing for you, it does not leave that residue. It’s cruelty free and vegan product (no animal products in it or animal testing done) so that’s good but I will most likely not be purchasing this .

So so good!!!
Scent: Face Wash, Size: 5.1 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
This face wash is a game changer! From texture to smell it is perfect. I ordered this for my husband to replace his usual "routine" of washing his face in the shower with bar soap (gasp!). I not-so-sneakily put this in the shower and at his first sample of it he was hooked. It's the only face wash he's tried and actually likes to use on a daily basis. Also, the price point is great! Definitely recommend for anyone seeking an awesome face wash at a perfect price.

Superb
Format: Hardcover
A superb selection of Williams' poetry in a handsome and durable small volume. The editor, Robert Pinsky, selected an appropriate spectrum of Williams' verse across his long career, including all his most famous poems. Reading and rereading these poems is always rewarding because of Williams' ability to capture arresting images, experiences, and states of mind. As with all anthologies, some choices may be arguable. I would like to see all of his great, late poem Asphodel included but Pinsky's choices make sense and reflect his sure knowledge of Williams' work. This book is a great addition to the worthy American Poets Project.

Another excellent volume from the American Poets Project
Format: Hardcover
As stated in another one of my reviews, every single Library of America volume I've ever purchased (including volumes from the American Poets Project) have been of the highest quality, superbly executed and just plain beautiful. Already possessing several volumes of William Carlos Williams work, I purchased this compact, delightful volume as a gift for my oldest son (who shares my appreciation for both great literature generally, and poetry specifically). Upon its arrival (delayed, once again, by amazon's ridiculously slow delivery) I was more than pleased, and felt proud to be presenting my son with such a first rate representation of W.C.W.'s work.

they are still as good as they were when they were first written
Format: Kindle
I've been reading William Carlos Williams since the seventies. His poetry was ground breaking at the time of there release, and to me, they are still as good as they were when they were first written. His portrayals of every day people and pastoral scenes are still worth reading. His rhythms in his short poems are worth studying for any poet. I recommend reading his selected Poems.
