Seiko SilverWave ladies watch from July 1983 in true new old stock (NOS) condition. Sometimes nicknamed the 'Royal Oak' because of its octagonal bezel and integrated bracelet design, but this SilverWave has a character entirely of its own. The sharp angular case, two-tone finish, crisp white dial and brushed stainless steel bracelet give it that unmistakable Japanese 80s aesthetic.
The gold-tone bezel contrasts beautifully against the brushed steel case and bracelet, while the applied indices and matching handset keep the design clean and balanced. The watch still retains its original bracelet, and the day display can be switched between Japanese Kanji and English. The quickset function works exactly as it should.
After 43 years of storage, a few light hairline marks can be found under close inspection, which is normal for an untouched watch of this age. Most of the original caseback sticker is still present, something rarely seen on a genuine NOS example.
Details
The SilverWave line was introduced by Seiko in the 1960s as a range of water-resistant sports watches. By the late 1970s and early 1980s, the name was used for higher-end quartz models with sharper case designs and more premium finishing than standard Seiko quartz watches of the period.
This watch is powered by the Seiko 3423 quartz movement, a Japanese-made dual-language day-date caliber from the early 1980s. It features quickset day and date adjustment, with the day display available in both Japanese Kanji and English. The movement is known for its reliability and straightforward construction, typical of Seiko quartz calibers from this era.
