From New York Times bestselling historian H. W. Brands comes the riveting story of how, in nineteenth-century America, a new set of political giants battled to complete the unfinished work of the Founding Fathers and decide the future of our democracy In the early 1800s, three young men strode onto the national stage, elected to Congress at a moment when the Founding Fathers were beginning to retire to their farms. Daniel Webster of Massachusetts, a champion orator known for his eloquence, spoke for the North and its business class. Henry Clay of Kentucky, as dashing as he was ambitious, embodied the hopes of the rising West. South Carolina's John Calhoun, with piercing eyes and an even more piercing intellect, defended the South and slavery.Together these heirs of Washington, Jefferson and Adams took the country to war, battled one another for the presidency and set themselves the task of finishing the work the Founders had left undone. Their rise was marked by dramatic duels, fierce debates, scandal and political betrayal. Yet each in his own way sought to remedy the two glaring flaws in the Constitution: its refusal to specify where authority ultimately rested, with the states or the nation, and its unwillingness to address the essential incompatibility of republicanism and slavery.
They wrestled with these issues for four decades, arguing bitterly and hammering out political compromises that held the Union together, but only just. Then, in 1850, when California moved to join the Union as a free state, "the immortal trio" had one last chance to save the country from the real risk of civil war. But, by that point, they had never been further apart.
Thrillingly and authoritatively, H. W. Brands narrates an epic American rivalry and the little-known drama of the dangerous early years of our democracy.

Nice fit- No help for “man boobs or belly”
Color: Blue, Size: XX-Large
The shirt is beautiful and nicely made. Fabric is nice, but thin. However, the claims about “belly fat” and “man boobs” are just plain not true.
Fabric is stretch and thin. This actually exaggerates those things if the shirt is snug at all. Size does run true.

This is a GREAT product line! Excellent fit!
Size: XX-Large, Color: Whiteblueleaf, Size: XX-Large, Color: Whiteblueleaf
Ordered 5 of these for a trip to Hawaii- and they did NOT disappoint! I don't do well in humidity, and these were the solution. The fabric is light but strong, and I am a bigger guy who usually where's a 2X Tall- the 2X was perfect. Just the right length, not too short like almost all of the other shirts I get off Amazon.
Cool and moisture wicking without and discoloration, no embarrassing sweat marks and they do not hold any odor. Beats the regular cotton shirts for sure. After washing the colors, fit and finish have all held up wonderfully!

I love golf shirts !
Size: XX-Large, Color: Greengolf
I really love the design and feel of this shirt. The rub, is that it’s wrinkled all the time!! Even after a couple of washings. Also tried to water spray and let hang dry and also redry in the dryer.
I’ve also worn it golfing. Hoping it would get better. Maybe my imagination, but does seem a little better. Golfing isn’t supposed to be a fashion show. But comfy nice shirts a must. I have this same shirt in black background. Love it, and isn’t as wrinkled. Black isn’t the best color on really warm summer days.
Might keep this for a bit and see if it settles. No TV cameras on my golf game, ha! Just seem to play better when I feel good and look good. And most courses require collared shirts.
Ok! Washed it again and let it hang dry! Wrinkles are gone!! Great shirt!! Now have it in several colors! The lighter colors are great!! Fend off the heat and nice enough to wear to church!!
