A New York Times Notable Book

Chinese immigrants of the recent past and unfolding twenty-first century are in search of the African dream. So explains indefatigable traveler Howard W. French, prize-winning investigative journalist and former New York Times bureau chief in Africa and China, in the definitive account of this seismic geopolitical development. China's burgeoning presence in Africa is already shaping, and reshaping, the future of millions of people. From Liberia to Senegal to Mozambique, in creaky trucks and by back roads, French introduces us to the characters who make up China's dogged emigrant population: entrepreneurs singlehandedly reshaping African infrastructure, and less-lucky migrants barely scraping by but still convinced of Africa's opportunities. French's acute observations offer illuminating insight into the most pressing unknowns of modern Sino-African relations: Why China is making these cultural and economic incursions into the continent; what Africa's role is in this equation; and what the ramifications for both parties and their people--and the watching world--will be in the foreseeable future.

No tying necessary
Size: 1 Little Kid, Color: Fuchsia, Size: 1 Little Kid, Color: Fuchsia
I ordered a kids size 1 for my child, and so far, I’ve been really happy with these shoes. Here’s what I like: ✅ Stylish design and comfortable fit. My daughter loves wearing these. ✅ They don’t show scuffs or scratches easily. ✅ The color is what I expected from the item pictures and it’s really cute. ✅ The Velcro straps make these easy to get off and put on. ✅ There’s a piece of Velcro on the tongue to help keep it in place. Really smart. ✅ The seams have not pulled apart and overall, these seem to be really well made. They have offered good support for my child’s feet, and a shoe that my child can put on by themselves is a win for me!

Durable girls sneakers
Size: 1 Little Kid, Color: Fuchsia, Size: 1 Little Kid, Color: Fuchsia
These Saucony girls sneakers in fuchsia are great. The design and coloring are fun and vibrant and the cushioning on the insole is good with just enough bounce. The material and construction seem durable. The Velcro strap secures in two places so you get a snug fit without the shoe “tongue” moving around. The sizing seems true to size. Overall these are a very solid, comfortable and functional pair of sneakers. $47, the current price, is about the price for similar products these days.

Great shoes but seem to run bigger than other styles of Saucony
Size: 4 Wide Big Kid, Color: Navy/Pink
We pretty much stick with one or two brands. I have a kiddo with wide feet, who recently wore out her size 3 wides (big kid) in another pair of Saucony shoes, but she was also right at the end of the shoe, so I went with a whole size up. She picked these. The size 4's are enormous, so we had to pick another style in a 3.5w, as these didn't have 1/2 sizes and will hold on to these for fall. I picked up another brand in 4W that actually fit really well now, but they are not as heavy duty as these. I'm hoping the next style in a 3.5 isn't too small. Love these shoes, but the sizing on them feels less and less predictable. Compared to most shoes I have always had to size down in these, but now even between styles in their brand.n

Great shoes
Size: 1 Little Kid, Color: Fuchsia, Size: 1 Little Kid, Color: Fuchsia
This is a review for Saucony unisex child cohesion FST (little kid/big) size 1. These shoes are good quality and all the stitching is on point. They fit true to size for my daughter and the Velcro snaps are convenient for a little ones. I like the color of these ones as it looks cute. They have been comfortable wear and we’ve been out for hours while wearing them. I think they’re fairly easy to keep clean. I just wipe them down with a damp cloth and they come clean easily. I think these are a fair value as well and if you’re looking for a basic pair of shoes for your little one, I would recommend them.
