A must read, especially during the current circumstances, for anyone wanting to have a better understanding of the nuanced Iranian political strategy. This book not only clarifies how the current government of Iran thinks and operates but also why it does what it does. Contrary to the western narrow and wrongheaded perception of the Iranian regime as an fanatical religious theocracy, the book lays bare different approches the Iranian government takes to different problems and shows how many of those decisions are not based on religious convictions. During these times that you have ignorant American Senators that push for war on behalf of a foreign government and don't know the most basic facts about Iran, I wish every American and European politician would read this book before uttering another word.
