Turkana StowCrow Sling-Thing

The Turkana StowCrow SlingThing™ is a compact sling bag, crossbody satchel, shoulder bag and chest bag built as a rugged EDC travel adventure pouch for motorcycle and bicycle riders, travellers, and hikers. Made with TuskTex500 fabric designed to survive real-world abuse, it’s a rugged EDC sling bag for commuting, adventure travel and carrying your daily essentials.

It’s designed for students, travellers, and commuters who want a no-BS compact sling that carries essentials without bulk. Wear it cross-body, on the chest, under a jacket or hand-carry. Built for anyone who actually uses their Turkana gear, not just carries it.

Under the Jacket, Over the Shoulder, Into the Wild, The SlingThing Just Works.

The SlingThing: your streamlined day bag for when you carry only what matters, but you expect it to actually last. Built from our rugged TuskTex500™ fabric, this isn’t a “tourist pouch” that falls apart after a season; it’s designed to handle the grind.

The adjustable 38 mm strap with heavy-duty buckle adapts with you: stash it into the back panel for chest carry, sling it across your body, or remove it entirely and hand-carry the bag. Four reinforced tabs on the back let you anchor the strap in multiple configurations so the bag sits just how you like it—upright under a jacket, strapped to your bike, or tucked inside your kit.

At only 15 cm wide, 21 cm high and 3.5 cm deep, the SlingThing hides easily under outer gear, packs neatly into tight spaces, but still has enough room for your essentials. On the outside there’s a quick-access back stash pocket. Open the main zip, and you’ll find a smart divider pocket and a dedicated keyring holder for anything you don’t want rolling around.

On the front a cam-buckle webbing loop offers extra utility – clip your jacket, hang a bottle, or secure something you might need quickly. It’s simple, practical and built for life on the move: commuting, biking, overlanding, travel, whatever your daily beat.

No gimmicks. No extras you don’t need. The SlingThing carries smart, looks good, disappears into your ride, and just gets the job done.

Who’s the SlingThing For?

  1. Riders who hate bulky crap – For the biker who wants quick access to the essentials: passport, phone, cash, keys, and other small bits, without wearing a backpack or stuffing pockets until they stab you in the ribs. ADV riders, commuters, cruisers, scooters… all welcome
  2. Travellers who move fast and light – the border-hop pros. The airport marathoners. The people who always know where their passport is because it’s on their chest, not buried at the bottom of a bag. They want gear that works, not tourist luggage.
  3. Students who refuse to carry a buffalo-sized backpack – for the ones who only need the basics: phone, charger, earbuds, wallet, snacks, panic notes, maybe a sneaky energy drink. Slim, subtle, and doesn’t look like you’re hauling a semester’s worth of bad decisions.
  4. Hikers and walkers with a ‘just bring the essentials’ attitude – phone, water, snacks, a small knife, whatever keeps you alive. No giant packs. No bouncing pockets.
  5. Urban commuters – people weaving through town by bike, taxi, bus or foot who want their essentials in one safe place, not sliding around in jeans pockets.
  6. People allergic to loud, flashy fashion bags – you know the type: glossy, shiny, Instagram first, function last. The SlingThing is the opposite. Premium, yes. Loud, no. It’s for humans who want gear that works without showing off.
  7. Minimalists – Keys. Wallet. Phone. Done. People whose whole philosophy fits into one sentence and now fits into one sling.
  8. Overlanders and explorers – Whether you’re on a motorcycle, in a 4×4, on a bus, or walking across dusty borders, you want your valuables on your body. This is the bag you trust when the world goes sideways.
  9. Photographers and creators on the move – spare batteries, SD cards, cables, chargers. The SlingThing works as a tidy little ops pouch for quick missions and light setups.
  10. People who prefer gear that blends in, not shows off – Under a jacket, across your chest, or tucked under your arm while wandering a dusty market, the SlingThing stays quiet, low profile and practical.
  11. Anyone tired of one-season throwaway junk – if you’ve been burnt by cheap bags that fall apart faster than election promises, this is your fix. Tough. Simple. Built to outlive your passport.
  12. The “If You Know You Know Crew” – Some people like owning the same stuff everyone else has. Others like owning gear that is unique and actually works, even if it’s not displayed in every tacky shop window. The SlingThing is for the pioneers, the early adopters, and the travellers who choose equipment because it’s built right and not because it’s trending.

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Good start to a series
Format: Kindle
I delayed reading the series for reasons I don’t remember. But my TBR list is huge so I thought I’d take a shot of this and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think the blurb about it was anything special. But it was a very good book. It took some interesting twists and turns. I am so glad the second book is already out. Because I would not have waited patiently. Very slow burn but good storyline. 🔥🔥/5

A good read
Format: Kindle
Multiple points of view. 3 Alpha men and an Omega male. She is a Beta in training for a new program placing betas in Alpha/Omega packs. Mila is only doing the program for the money to take care of her dad. She wasn't expecting to fall for a pack but when she sees this packs Omega she is done for. There is just something about him. His Alphas are good looking as well. Too bad she is hiding a secret and their government is acting shady. I liked it and can't wait to see where their story goes.

Slightly repetitive but I did love some things
Format: Kindle
I love this type of story. And omegaverse is one of my all time favorite genres. But there are a few things that pulled me out of my enjoyment while I was reading. It was repetitive at times as well as struggled with telling not showing. So we didn’t always feel like we were experiencing things with the main character. There were also some plot holes but they may still be answered in part 2. Now this isn’t to be said I didn’t enjoy parts of the story. I loved the almost instant love between Mila and Oliver. And how he started changing around her.

delightful read
Format: Kindle
What a delightful read. The characters are awesome, the plot was so good, I loved it. I was intrigued and it kept me wanting more. Told in multiple pov, the book sucks you in and doesn’t let go. I cannot wait to read the next book.
