There is a discussion in chapter five of combinations lurking in roads not taken -- alternate lines of play show up in Chernev's notes to the game, while the sixth chapter, "Convincing the Kibitzers," shows the second-guessers what would have happened had the masters done the obvious. (Some disastrous combinations show up here.) A host of boomerangs follow -- cases where the player didn't look far enough ahead and his combination, instead of bringing about the opponent's ruin, paved the way to his defeat. Chapters 8-21 take up combinations used by such great players as Tarrasch, Botvinnik, Nimzovich, Steinitz, Rubinstein, and Pillsbury; the sacrificial combinations of Anderssen and Spielmann; the dazzling brilliancies of Morphy, Keres, and Alekhine; the deadly attacks of Marshall; the almost unfathomable ideas of Lasker; and the matchless creations of Capablanca. My husband always asks for a new pack of these UA socks every birthday and Christmas. He wears them with all types of shoes and for everything he does: daily work, weekend casual, and athletics. They're thick, super soft, and durable, but yet still breathable--even in the heat of summer. It takes months and months of constant wear and washings before they develop holes in the heel. Great socks!

Very Nice Athletic Socks - Fit as expected.

So far so good. I purchased the XL size and they fit well for my size 14 feet. They seem to have held up well in the 7 days I have been wearing them - 2 washes so far. Only time will tell if they last. I do know if you walk around the house in your socks they will develop holes on the bottom much faster than if you just wear them in shoes.
