Omega Constellation Automatic “C-Shape” – Blue Dial (Ref. 168.0056, Circa 1972)
The Omega Constellation Ref. 168.0056 embodies the refined vision of Gérald Genta, the legendary designer whose work helped define modern watch design. Introduced in the early 1970s, this C-shape Constellation merges bold architectural form with elegant precision. This example, featuring a rare blue dial and powered by the Omega Calibre 1011, is an outstanding representation of the model’s enduring charm and sophistication.
The Case – The Genta “C-Shape” Design
The 35 mm stainless steel case reflects the distinctive C-shaped silhouette introduced by Gérald Genta in the late 1960s—a design that emphasized smooth continuity, integrated lines, and ergonomic elegance. This example remains unpolished, preserving its sharp angles and crisp brushed surfaces.
The case’s balanced proportions make it effortlessly wearable, while its distinctive shape gives it a strong vintage presence. The original Omega-signed crown remains intact, confirming its authenticity and originality.
The Dial – Deep Blue, Understated and Rare
The original Omega blue dial displays a subtle and even light patina, adding depth and vintage character without compromising its beauty. The color—ranging from navy to slate depending on the light—is strikingly uncommon among Constellations of this era, making this a particularly desirable variant.
The dial retains its applied Omega logo and markers, along with the signature “Constellation” star at 6 o’clock. The contrast of the blue surface with the silver-tone furniture creates an elegant, quietly confident look.
Protected by its original mineral crystal, the dial remains well-preserved and highly legible, true to the understated luxury that defines the Constellation line.
The Movement – Omega Calibre 1011, Chronometer Precision
At the heart of this watch beats the Omega Calibre 1011, an in-house chronometer-rated automatic movementrenowned for its accuracy and reliability. The movement has been recently serviced and is keeping excellent time, performing as well as it did when it left the Omega workshops in the early 1970s.
The Cal. 1011 represents one of the brand’s finest automatic calibres of its period—featuring a quick-set date and a slim profile, perfectly suited to the elegant design of the Constellation.
The Strap – Handcrafted Modern Elegance
Paired with a brand-new handmade leather strap crafted in Belgium, the watch combines vintage charm with modern comfort. The black strap complements the blue dial beautifully, enhancing the watch’s understated sophistication.
