After nearly a decade's worth of DIY touring and writing/recording with various bands (including his collaboration with Jeff Rosenstock, Antarctigo Vespucci), Florida native Chris Farren decided to shift his focus and began writing songs under his own name. His debut solo album released in 2016, Can't Die, showcased Farren's strengths as a pop songwriter and pushed him to relocate to Los Angeles. He took his new material out on the road alone, performing solo with backing tracks and added visuals, while simultaneously developing a newfound sense of humor when it came to promoting himself online. With his sophomore album and Polyvinyl debut, Born Hot, Farren takes it a step further. Songs like "Search 4 Me" and "Love Theme from 'Born Hot'" are proof that Farren knows what it takes to write a hook, while songs like "R U Still There?" and "Floruit de Maga" showcase his strengths as a lyricist, telling stories of loss, grief, insecurity, and loneliness. And as far as the new promotional concepts... let's just say they're as hot as ever!

Am almost done reading

This book came recommended by a very hospitable friend. I'm almost done reading and wanted to drop by here to leave a positive review.
Lots of good useful ideas in this book and it has an engaging writing style. I think the author is specifically gifted in the area of hospitality - not everyone can live like she and her family do, but there are a lot of practical tips if you're hoping to grow in that area of your life.

Hospitality is the Most Important Thing
Format: Hardcover
The author does an excellent job making a case for how important and underrated hospitality is to a hurting world. She captures my attention instantly with her story about her neighbor Hank. She leaves me hanging through a couple of chapters before I get more details about his story.
I almost put down the book permanently when she gets on her high religious horse. I suspect she and I would disagree about some of our theology. And I didn't need to be persuaded, so those chapters weren't written for me. If you skim (or skip) that beginning section, it's well worth the practical ideas for how to open up your own home and life in hospitality.
A great challenge that I shall take up. May all our neighbors become friends and our friends become family.
