It's 1941 and ten-year-old Norman Mineta is a carefree fourth grader in San Jose, California, who loves baseball, hot dogs, and Cub Scouts. But when Japanese forces attack Pearl Harbor, Norm's world is turned upside down. Corecipient of The Flora Stieglitz Straus AwardA Horn Book Best Book of the Year One by one, things that he and his Japanese American family took for granted are taken away. In a matter of months they, along with everyone else of Japanese ancestry living on the West Coast, are forced by the government to move to internment camps, leaving everything they have known behind. At the Heart Mountain internment camp in Wyoming, Norm and his family live in one room in a tar paper barracks with no running water. There are lines for the communal bathroom, lines for the mess hall, and they live behind barbed wire and under the scrutiny of armed guards in watchtowers. Meticulously researched and informed by extensive interviews with Mineta himself, Enemy Child sheds light on a little-known subject of American history. Andrea Warren covers the history of early Asian immigration to the United States and provides historical context on the U.S. government's decision to imprison Japanese Americans alongside a deeply personal account of the sobering effects of that policy. Warren takes readers from sunny California to an isolated wartime prison camp and finally to the halls of Congress to tell the true story of a boy who rose from "enemy child" to a distinguished American statesman. Mineta was the first Asian mayor of a major city (San Jose) and was elected ten times to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he worked tirelessly to pass legislation, including the Civil Liberties Act of 1988. He also served as Secretary of Commerce and Secretary of Transportation. He has had requests by other authors to write his biography, but this is the first time he has said yes because he wanted young readers to know the story of America's internment camps. Enemy Child includes more than ninety photos, many provided by Norm himself, chronicling his family history and his life. Extensive backmatter includes an Afterword, bibliography, research notes, and multimedia recommendations for further information on this important topic.

It's a fun/unusual color, but not "celery"
Size: Medium, Color: Celery Green, Size: Medium, Color: Celery Green
Can't comment on the fit because we didn't take it out of the bag. I gave it 4 stars because 𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 of the suit looks really nice through the plackaging, but we didn't open it up and try it on because the color could not be further from what we were expecting. It's actually a really cool and unusual fun fabric, but not really describable as any shade of green which is what I was going for. It's more of a beige tweed whose tiny plaid upon careful examination even has slightly blue threads.. or is that lavender? In fairness to the manufacturer, I tried and tried to get a photo with lighting that accurately represents this fun and unusual color to no avail. For a proper review I guess I should have my son put it on and take a picture in daylight. But they do need to change the color name at least to "champagne tweed" or something. No idea whose job it was to call this color "celery". ;p

My son (17) ordered this suit to wear to Prom (2 weeks before) and it was a hit! Great Quality and great fit! He even convinced a few of his friends to buy their suits here too! Would purchase again for sure!

This is a terrific purchase.

Amazing for the price. It’s a wonderful suit fit just right for a 5’10”. 145 pound male.
The quality is surprisingly wonderful for this suit and the color is accurate. As in the picture it is a slim fit and accentuates his figure. I would highly recommend this for a purchase. (be sure to use the measurements on their description before ordering). After a steam and a press we were ready to go. The packaging was very nicely done also.

Perfect fit.
Size: Large, Color: Dark Gray
I’m 5’9”, about 180 lbs. I got an L based on the Amazon recommendation. The size chart showed the pants being a 36” which is big for me but it’s those that stretch so if you’re a 34” like me, it’ll fit perfectly. No alterations needed for me. Great fit, good looking suit, nice material. I immediately bought another and hope it fits as good as this one. Genuinely impressed.
