Los Angeles psychedelic spaghetti-western rock band SPINDRIFT release its new album Ghost of the West on October 22, 2014 via Tee Pee.

The penultimate documentation of SPINDRIFT's fascination with the surreal qualities and legendary mythos of the Wild West, the album is described as a "sonic western exploration into the Great Unknown" and "an homage to "everything Western."  The record was inspired by the group's 2012 "Ghost Town Tour", a five week, self-guided tour through more than 20 of America's western ghost towns.  During the trip, many landmarks, tourist attractions (Deadwood, South Dakota), western museums and monuments (such as Cathedral Gorge State Park and Arizona's Sonoran National Desert) were reached and at every stop along the way, SPINDRIFT made field recordings and performed live, putting their "spin" on classic, Golden Era cowboy songs of the old West.

SPINDRIFT: Ghost of the West is not only a new SPINDRIFT album, it is also a Motion Picture Soundtrack that is being released prior to the feature film companion of the same name (slated for a 2014 release).  Eccentric underground film director Burke Roberts and crew were hired to film and document the ghostly five week journey, which brought forgotten history back to life and mimicked the days when Cowboys, Native Americans, Pioneers and Gunfighters ruled the land!  SPINDRIFT: Ghost of the West contains more of the signature elements that SPINDRIFT has grown to make their own; singer-songwriter-composer-producer-actor Kirpatrick Thomas' twangy Spaghetti Western style guitar and heroic baritone is more present and defined than ever before.  Pedal steels soar while high sopranos hauntingly bounce through lost cavernous gold mines.  Bullfighting music? Check.  Campfire Ballads? Check.  Native American chants? Check.  Awesome plays on cowboy classics like "When I Was A Cowboy" (1934), "Cool Water" (1936), "Buffalo Dream" (1953), "Gunfighter" (1962) and even an amped-up version of "Ghost Riders in the Sky" (which the band recently performed with Dead Kennedy's Jello Biafra in San Francisco) ride sidesaddle with new SPINDRIFT originals on this one-of-a-kind release.   SPINDRIFT: Ghost of the West promises to be the most quintessential psychedelic western crossover album ever made!

Since the release of the band's 2011 recording Classic Soundtracks Vol. 1, SPINDRIFT has been hard at work crafting an album -- and film -- about their fascination with the Wild West.  The origins of the Ghost of the West album started when Kirpatrick Thomas and bassist David Koenig (ex-The Brian Jonestown Massacre) would entertain remaining stragglers with old acoustic campfire ballads after SPINDRIFT shows in Joshua Tree, California. Pioneertown, CA to be exact (the birthplace of Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, and The Sons of the Pioneers).

While SPINDRIFT's previous album and film combo The Legend of God's Gun (2008) was a Grindhouse Psychedelic Spaghetti Western Rock 'N' Roll masterpiece, Ghost of the West picks up on the more factual "real" forgotten past of the old West, bringing that ghostly history back to life!

SPINDRIFT has featured members of psychedelia pushers like The Warlocks, The Brian Jonestown Massacre and Psychic TV!  The band has cited the Sergio Leone film "Once Upon a Time in the West" and Sam Peckinpah's "The Wild Bunch" as cinematic influences on its music and overall style.  SPINDRIFT music has appeared in the feature film Hell Ride produced by Quentin Tarantino, the VICE documentary series "Coffin Joe" and the HBO Comedy series "Eastbound & Down".

"Spindrift has spent the last few years mashing westerns and psych-rock into a hybrid mind-wipe. It certainly has the resume for it. The band features ex-members of psychedelia pushers like The Warlocks, The Brian Jonestown Massacre and Psychic TV, and Quentin Tarantino inserted Spindrift's "Indian Ride" into his exploitation flick Hell Ride." - WIRED

"When pastiche topples over into outright worship, it's important to make sure your tributes to the greats measure up. The target of Spindrift's idolatory are the Italian school of spaghetti western composers and, for the most part, they make a pretty good fist of evoking the right atmosphere...cool and foreboding twangy instrumentals" -  ROLLING STONE

Good value, works great, just the right size for me
Color: Tea Green, Style: Little Green Mini
I was concerned at first that the clean water/solution tank was small, but it's prefect for my needs. I was able to clean up 4 puppy-pee spots perfectly, and still have half the solution left over that I loaded in. I like that it is really compact so stores easily, that the cord and hose wind up nice and tight, and it can fit in a small space. Cleaning the dirty water tank was a breeze and took 2 minutes. Would recommend for spills and spot cleaning. Very handy and affordable.

Tiny but Mighty Cleaner That Saved My Couch
Color: Tea Green, Style: Little Green Mini, Color: Tea Green, Style: Little Green Mini
I had wanted the Bissell Little Green for the longest time. If you have pets or children, a portable carpet and upholstery cleaner like this can come in very handy. One of my cats unfortunately peed on my couch, and I thought it might be the end of the line for it since it is a power recliner with non removable cushions. I picked this up as a last resort, and honestly also as an excuse to finally buy one. I debated between the plug in and cordless versions, but ultimately chose the corded model because it has almost twice the suction power. At first I thought the suction felt a bit weak, but once I saw the liquid it was pulling up I was very impressed. During the passes I could literally see yellowish liquid being extracted. It was gross and satisfying at the same time. I was also surprised by how brown and dirty the recovered water was. This machine is tiny but mighty. Weighing around 7 pounds, the Little Green is light and easy to carry around the house. It is also a bit quieter than a traditional vacuum. Cleanup is straightforward. You simply remove the dirty water tank and rinse it out. The vacuum head attachment rinses easily as well. For the hose, you can use the self cleaning tool by pressing the nozzle and running water through it for about 30 seconds. There are still some lingering smells, but based on the color of the extracted water it clearly did a lot of work. I just need to do a few more cleaning sessions on my couch. I am glad I finally bit the bullet and gave the Little Green a try. This adorable little machine may have saved me hundreds of dollars compared to hiring a professional cleaner or replacing my couch. Overall, I would absolutely recommend it for pet owners and anyone who needs a reliable upholstery and spot cleaner.

5 Stars for Suction, but the "Drill Brush Hack" makes it 10 Stars
Color: Tea Green, Style: Little Green Mini
I bought the Bissell Little Green Mini to handle the inevitable "kid and pet" messes that don't justify dragging out a full-sized upright. It’s impressively lightweight, about 45% lighter than the original and, in my opinion, seemingly more durable. The 4-foot flexible hose makes it perfect for stairs and car interiors. The Secret Sauce: The Drill Brush Pairing While the included 4" Tough Stain Tool is great for light scrubbing, the real game-changer is pairing this machine with a soft-bristle drill brush. My Process: I spray the stain using the Little Green’s trigger, let it sit for 30 seconds, then use the drill brush on a low setting to agitate the fibers. The Result: This combo lifts deeply embedded dirt and old pet stains that manual scrubbing just can't touch. Once agitated, I use the Little Green’s powerful suction to pull everything out. The water in the dirty tank is always satisfyingly (and gross) dark. Key Performance Notes Suction Power: Don't let the "Mini" tag fool you; the suction is strong enough to leave upholstery nearly dry to the touch. Spray Effectiveness: The built-in spray trigger is precise. It delivers a wide, even mist rather than a messy stream, which is crucial for saturating a stain without soaking the underlying foam padding. Self-Cleaning Feature: The HydroRinse tool is a lifesaver. It flushes the hose after use, preventing that "old damp carpet" smell from developing inside the machine. Portability: It’s small enough to store in a standard bathroom cabinet, making it much more accessible for "emergency" spills. Pros & Cons Pros: Extreme Portability: Easy to carry around the house or out to the driveway. Long Reach: The 12-foot power cord gives you plenty of room to move. Formula Efficiency: A little bit of the Oxy Spot & Stain formula goes a long way. Cons: Small Tanks: Because it’s a "Mini," you will be emptying the dirty tank frequently if you’re doing a whole couch. Loud: Like most portable extractors, it has a high-pitched motor whine.

Works as expected but won’t replace professional carpet cleaning
Color: Tea Green, Style: Little Green Mini
I’d say this little green machine was worth the money. I’ve had it for a few months, and these are my pros and cons: Pros: -good size, easily stored in my closet -cord length is long enough for my needs -gets new stains out if I act quickly after spilling -comes with carpet cleaner (unlike if I were to rent a carpet cleaner from my hardware store) -great for spot cleaning Cons: -I can only spray the cleaning solution if the vacuum feature is turned on. I would like to spray and then wait a while, then turn on the vacuum feature. I could be doing this wrong, but I haven’t figured out a way to change this feature. -the suction isn’t as strong as I’d like. I recently got my carpets professionally cleaned, and I understood why that service is still necessary even if I’m spot-cleaning with my little green guy often.
