Your Weimaraner was originally bred to be a hunting dog, of course. They learn in field training to associate the environment of the woods, lake or field with gun fire. The sound is expected and they have time to prepare. Thunder and fireworks are unexpected, loud noises that can startle them and can actually hurt their ears.
